Better temperature control and easier to keep clean
The media could not be loaded. The first brooder plate I bought was the one from Tractor Supply. It works fine for a single purpose, but there are only two temperature settings. The Chickcozy one has temperature settings so as the chicks get older and don't need it quite as hot, I can turn the temperature down in small increments without any trouble. The Tractor Supply one also has a flat top which is easy for the chicks to climb on top of and poo all over. The Chickcozy has a plastic cover that is not only easy to clean, but also discourages the chicks from climbing on top of it in the first place. It also has adjustable legs just like the other one. Also, the chicks love it! They are so happy and warm with their brooder.

Perfect temp
This product is well built and works exactly as advertised. I recommend for anyone with starter chicks it keeps them snug and warm in the brooder box. we let the temp in the house drop to 65 degrees. this product can be mounted later for when the get bigger

My baby chickens enjoy this!
This gets very warm and the baby chicks love to snuggle up against it. If it’s laid on its side they also perched on top of it. It gets so warm it feels like it could burn you so it’s hard to move around if needed but kept our day old-through 8 week old baby chicks alive and well through cold temps in fall/winter. My only wish is that the plate was longer and wider. As the baby chicks get bigger, we would need 3 plates for 16 babies to have access to the plate. The babies did cuddle up to both sides of the plate when it’s on its side as both sides get hot. The clear plate that goes on top of it is flimsy and cheap. More of a cone shape would be better to prevent them from jumping on top of it when it’s being laid down for them to go under.

Great brooder box heater
This was perfect for my new chicks. They stayed warm, and I wasn’t worried as much about being a fire hazard. I also liked that I could raise the height as the chicks got bigger.

Overheated and Could Have Started My Brooder Pen on Fire
I used this for 4 weeks with no issues. Tonight I turned it down to 75F (as my chicks are 4 weeks now), and it started to overheat. I was sitting there and smelled something, and since it just got cold here, I thought the furnace had kicked on. One of my chicks was laying near the heater and I started to pet her, and felt a wave of heat. I touched the top of the heater (which had the plastic lid on it that it comes with to keep the chicks from pooping on it), and the lid was super hot and was starting to warp. I immediately unplugged it and lifted it out of the brooder pen, could feel the heat just coming off of it in waves, and noticed the plastic orange body of the unit had separated from the metal plate. My husband used a laser thermometer on it, and the plate was almost 300F! If I had just turned down the temp and had not been sitting there, it could have been really, really bad and possibly started the bedding in the brooder pen on fire, or seriously burned my chicks. As I said, I had used this with no issues for the last 4 weeks up to this point, it was set at its highest point from the ground on the legs provided, and had not be dropped or anything that could have damaged it. All I did was turn down the temp on it from 80F to 75F.I bought this as a safer option than using a brooder lightbulb, and I am very disappointed that this happened. Thankfully I was right there when it overheated. Please be careful.

Like it
I have used this now for several weeks. I really like it. I don’t like that the chicks tend to want to hang out under it and never come out and I have to encourage them to come out and eat, but it happens. That doesn’t mean this is not a good product. It works fine. I think what you pay and what you get is pretty good. It is not heavy at all. Easy to use. Easy to put together.

Chickcozy dual purpose heater!!
The media could not be loaded. I needed a heater for my coop in the winter and I also needed a brooder in the spring for my baby chicks so this was the perfect heater! It has a smart temp sensor from 70-190° so it provides enough warmth for my hens at night and will be the perfect adjustable brooder for my chicks in the spring. It’s easy to install and even easier to use. It’s the perfect size to hang and it comes with adjustable legs to ensure the brooder is always at the right height. It has a smart sensor and cover so it’s perfectly safe to use anywhere in the coop. This is 2 heaters in one and totally worth the money! Five stars for sure!

Great for chickens, not so great for tortoises
I bought this heater for my tortoise in his new outdoor. It works well but does not provide enough heat to warm his abode in cooler weather. It is very safe, though and would probably be great for baby chicks.
