Well built
Yes, the instructions are in Chinese, but the back of the clock clearly shows direction of wind and a bell for the alarm, direction of wind for time. It needs to be wound daily, as it goes for about 24 hours on a full wind. The sound is a quiet tick. The alarm is not too loud- like a rapid tapping on metal ( not a ringing of a bell) but definitely louder than the 'tick' and always wakes me up.It seems very sturdy, made mostly of metal. The winds for the functions are a little close together (because of the small size) but I can easily wind it.I was looking for a well built mechanical clock. This little beauty is exactly what I was looking for.

Fake rich person prop, and april fools joke
This product is unreliable. Do not buy for any reason whatsoever. Any battery operated alarm clock will be more reliable and outperform this unit which stops every 20 minutes. Keeps stopping and alarm does not go off when told to do so. Also, it is extremely loud and you have to be creative in isolating the ticking sound when trying to sleep at night (whenever it runs) cheaply made case not evenly mounted, and felt like tin instead of brass.

Keeps time
This cute little clock keeps time and has an alarm bell. It was not difficult to wind or to set. One wind up lasts about 26 hours so if this was the regular clock you’d have to re wind every day at the same time. It makes a tick tock sound so I have to put it on my dresser not on the bedside table. It is small so it’s good for travel and packing. It’s metal and very cute, easy to read numbers. This is exactly what I wanted!

Works well, with some tinkering
Aside from remembering to keep it wound, pay attention to the little +/- slider on the back, which adjusts it to keep time faster or slower. Mine was set all the way to the slow end when it came out of the box, and over the course of 12 hours it lost about 30 minutes. I kept moving it forward, giving it a while and seeing if it lost time, re-syncing it and moving the slider further. Now it's JUST shy of all the way to the fast end, and seems to keep pretty good time so long as you keep it wound. I'm going on 2 days and it's accurate to the minute. The alarm isn't super-precise, since it's a single arm, so setting it to the minute isn't really possible. You can do on the hour or maybe the half-hour reliably. Suitably loud to wake up heavy sleepers. I used to have a larger twin bell alarm that was battery-operated, with bigger bells and a sturdier hammer, that was louder, but for as small as this one is it's plenty loud, with the added bonus of not needing batteries.

This is a really well made gorgeous little retro/vintage style wind up clock. Needs no batteries or electric. Just what I was looking for. Super happy with the presentation it delivers. Nice little clock. Ordering another.

No, No and Nope!
Sad. Very cute clock. Only need it occasionally when I need to awaken early. The control knobs on the back are extremely stiff to turn and you need tiny hands to even get in there. The dial gets stuck and completely stops mid cycle and if you are depending on it to wake you -- good luck. If you need it as a prop it will look very nice on set.
