Good Item
Last time I bought the "Ultimate" which is the same as this one, but has more metal in it.I am not sure that the metal does much other than make it heavier, since to me the material the body is made out of is not the weakness of these products. Note that the description is incorrect, the body is not alloy, that's teh Ultimate, which this is not!! This one, the body is plastic. The design has changed a little from last time, it now has a gentle stop at 50% in both the trigger and the trigger lock, which is really brilliant. The lighter weight (as opposed to the Ultimate) actually feels better. The Ultimate is a little heavy.I pulled my old Ultimate apart (which was six years old) and found that these guns have a number of small o-ring seals in them. Exposed to weather, they rot over time, and then the gun leaks.Judging by the negative reviews, they will also leak if the water pressure is too high and that's understandable. They aren't strong. I watched some videos of leaking units, and for sure the water pressure was a lot higher than mine. So, I think that the problem some people may have with these is that they need to reduce the flow in to the gun, which will, in turn, reduce the back pressure at the nozzle. They could do this by fitting a valve before the tap. What this will do is reduce the flow in to the hose to the same as the flow out of the gun, so reducing the back-pressure when the gun is operating. Just set it to something sensible. This, incidentally, is why they say not to leave the gun out in the winter. When the hose freezes, any water will expand and can put pressure on those o-rings.Anyway, getting back to the point, the gun nozzle is the weak point and it will suffer from the weather and limescale. It's a really good idea to keep it out of bright sun, frost and pull the top off (the yellow bit unscrews) and replace the tiny o-rings (fiddly job). Oddly, Hozelock do not sell replacements, I will update this review when I find some that fit.And if all that's too fiddly, just by an ordinary nozzle!Recommended.

Short term great
Great product but I’ve realised I’ve bought one a year for the last few. Doesn’t do well long term - it could be the hard water area I live in but it’s a bit too “robust” and expensive to be replaced annually. I think hozelock should have a better sustainability policy and do more for customers like me that need to replace so frequently.

Broken leaky cheap mess
DO NOT BUY. This item is completely defective. Not even had it 24hrs and it’s already broken. Water is pouring out of the trigger and the handle leaving the user drenched. Please trust the hundreds of pictures in these reviews which show it as a broken, cheap bit of plastic. I’m annoyed that Hozelock think that it’s ok to manufacture and sell a product that doesn’t work as listed and more so ship it to a customer.. Do they not test their products? I have applied for a refund. I will be willing to up the rating to 2 stars if I receive a full refund. I will keep you posted! Very disappointed.

Very sturdy!
My last spray gun broke down in the frost (in spite of being emptied) so I've gone a step up. We haven't had a frost yet so can't compare. This one is for professionals, it's quite heavy and very stiff to move around the dial. I'm sure a pro gardener wouldn't notice but as a young retiree, I do!!

Bought during an illegal hosepipe ban
Took a while to get the most out of this as I bought it when Northern Ireland Water held their illegal hosepipe ban during the summer. The good news is once the ban was over I was able to get the most out of the lovely water using my shiny new hose spray gun. There seems to be a setting for any use although the power isn't the same as the normal hose end. There seems to be a little loss due to the interchangeable facility it offers, you also have to make sure that it clicks into place. Mine doesn't always stay on the setting. It seems robust enough and should hopefully stand up to the use in a normal domestic garden.*** UPDATE***A little after 13 months in use the shiny connector seemed to shift, and duly soaked me when I was watering the garden. I figured it happened as all the pressure from the heavy hose went through that point in the gun) I guess all the moving the hose over the past 12 months (remember it was a hosepipe ban the first month or so) was enough to cause it.I contacted hozelock and they asked me to send them the broken unit and they replaced it under warranty. Which was a bonus as I thought it only had the standard 12 month warranty. I think it was a week from me posing the faulty unit to getting the replacement. Which I thought was good customer service. Now I hold the hose with one hand and the spray gun in the other to help try and reduce the wear on the the connector.

Very Good
Just what we wanted, to look after our garden. It's an upgrade from the original Hozelock we had. Much much better and very sturdy. Looking forward to use it, when the sun is shining...

Comfortable with a great selection of useful spray settings
This was about £3 cheaper than the local garden centre, and at around £29 seems quite a lot for a hose gun, but we needed one as the previous cheapo one had got all seized up.This has a setting that allows a fairly gentle misting of plants, and as we have quite a few flowers in pots it is perfect as the petals don't get smashed off! There's also a dial to reduce the water pressure power from 100% down to about 50% which, again, is very useful if you're trying to not destroy your lovely plants! It's quite a large gun, but my wife - who has small hands - can handle it with no complaints, and the angle is adjustable which is good for when you're spraying a whole border and for example need to arc the water so it rains down more gently rather than shoot it like a fire-hose!There are quite a few variations of this, with differing misting types and total number of options, but this seemed to be the sweet spot for me.Overall this is the best one we've bought, you can get cheaper but it's a false economy :)
