Q: Is the product strong enough to keep open a window that wants to slide closed? My old window won't stay up and I'm looking for a way to prop it open.

Yes it will. I'm using it myself in a window that doesn't want to stay open. Plus it has weather stripping and bugs don't seem to get in like the ones that are sold at big box stores.

Q: Is this enough to keep my cat from jumping out?

The tighter the fit, the greater the likelihood that your cat cannot jump out. I don't think my cat could jump out the windows that the screens are in. If the cat charges the screen, maybe! Good luck.

Q: Do these screens rust?

I've only had mine for a few months, so I wouldn't know about rust. I can say that they seem to be pretty durable. I have five kittens jumping and scratching at the screens to get to the birds on my windowsill, and yet the screens appear to be fine so far.

Q: do have screens to fit a20 1/2" wide by 31" long?

The description say's they are 15 inches high and 21to40 inches wide so you would have to measure your area and see.
