Reverse osmosis water filter systems are worthwhile investments for filtering contaminants out of tap water, but any reverse osmosis membrane can be damaged by water containing suspended solids and colloidal materials. The Silt Density Index (SDI) is the industry measurement of this fouling problem, and our portable water test kit for SDI levels makes quick, easy on-site water testing possible for microfiltration, ultrafiltration, and reverse osmosis systems. For optimal performance, and to ensure the long-lasting health and functionality of your reverse osmosis membranes, test the SDI before every installation. This professional kit gives you everything you need to test the SDI of your water. To test, a 0.45-micron filter is exposed to water under pressure, and filtration rates are calculated from that. In most cases, an SDI of less than 5 is considered acceptable for reverse osmosis systems. A minimum of 30 PSI water pressure is required to use this kit.Our professional kit features quick-connect in/out connections built right into the case and includes a filter holder, a pressure gauge, a pressure regulator, a ball valve, a graduated cylinder, a thermometer, tubing, filter tweezers, and ASTM SDI test instructions to guide kit use. It also includes 2 SDI test filters, but we recommend an additional filter pack as well (sold separately). For over 40 years, Applied Membranes has been an industry leader in commercial and residential water-filtration systems, introducing the most cutting-edge water-purification technology in compact, accessible systems everyone can use.
