Soft, but not too soft
I wanted to give these a try after being recommended when looking for more affordable art supplies. I'm just a hobbyist nowadays, but have 20+ years of classical art training. I've used super expensive high quality pencils from various companies over the years. But these little Crayolas are actually quite nice despite being from a 'childrens' brand. Cores are soft enough to not need too much pressing, but not so soft that they break or you're always sharpening. The wood they're made from shaves SO cleanly, and they have a nice size for all hands. The colors are vibrant, blend well, and work great on a variety of paper styles. These are really good for professionals who want a cheap and travel friendly set of pencils for sketching, or for a child artist wanting to upgrade their medium library. The tin these come in is also very nice!

Love these pencils
Second time order of these pencils. Very nice quality. Smooth, lays color down very well. Soft, yet not too soft. The colors are great. With both sets there has been 2 to 3 pencils which chew up the wood while sharpening. That's my only complaint. I will continue to purchase these. I have several other brand pencils, including prisma, and i find myself reaching for the crayola brand.

These are pretty good for their price point
These are pretty good for their price point. They're definitely more pigmented and more vivid than standard crayola pencils and while they do blend, they do take a little work to achieve a good result. The black is quite black and the white shows up pretty well on black paper. My only issue with them, is the set I received, the wood was very cheap and on one pencil was flaking apart making it difficult to sharpen properly. If you're looking for a good set of pencils as a beginner, these are good for the price.

I LOVE THESE
I thought about these for quite awhile before purchasing. I read the reviews about wood breaking and such, but I decided to give them a try. I used my Jarlink sharpener, which still works fine, and there were three pencils I could tell might have shattered had I hand sharpened, so I made a note on those, and will either sharpen the with a knife or only use the Jarlink on them.I found the pencils to be gorgeous. They are highly pigmented, not too hard or soft, not at all like all my other Crayola pencils, which I love, too. These are different. But I expected them to be different. As for particulars, they blend well, layer well, are very water resistant, and hardly smudge at all. They work well with blender pencils, which is the only kind of blender I use if the colors don't seem to want to blend by themselves. And I had no problems with the case staying closed. What I really love is how they color. I don't use them on watercolor paper, the bumpy kind, but everything else is fair game. I alter my technique to fit the paper. I prefer smooth with a little tooth, but anything from tissue paper to toothy cardstock works fine with these. Just work with the paper. I am very happy with these, and will reconsider if I start having breakage issues. If that happens, I will knock a star off.

Awesome
The only downfall, there are not enough colors. Although you have the basics to blend colors if they're already ready made it's a lot faster. Please pencils sharpened in 2 or 3 different sharpeners to a perfect hard point that lasted while coloring, I had no problems at all. I just wish there were more colors. I have very expensive high end pencils and these rank up there with the best of them. Please make a set with 72 colors at least! These really are not good if you are heavy handed, you need to color lightly and layer.

Better than Prismacolor
Last year I paid too much for a box of Prismacolor 36 ct. soft core colored pencils, tried them, and was very much UNDERwhelmed by the color laid down. Dry and light color. So unimpressive. Then, I bought a box of Crayola Signature pencils and are very happy with the richness and softness of the color. I also bought a box of 100 ct. Crayola pencils and have just had more fun with them because there are so many colors to choose from and blend.
