OtterBox Google Pixel 7 Pro Defender Series Case - Black, Rugged & Durable, with Port Protection, Includes Holster Clip Kickstand

First off, this is a really great phone. I've looked at the 8 and 9, and can't see anything that would really make me want to upgrade. The cameras are fantastic at every resolution and distance. The built in editing features work great and are very useful. The screen is beautiful, good colors, deep blacks and great resolution. The radios work great. Even inside my camper (like an aluminum Faraday cage), I still get good enough signal to make and receive calls, even living in a fringe area. The buttons are easy to use, even in an Otterbox case. The sound quality, in calls and playing media is top notch, for a phone.I saw a lot of reviews that complained about the fingerprint sensor on the screen. Initially, I immediately saw what they meant, it honestly kind of sucked. More often than not, it wouldn't recognize any of my fingers to unlock the phone. This is, it has gotten much better with age. After a month or so, it now never misses a print. I use fingerprint security for my banking apps and it just works great now.One thing that might be an issue for some, with an Otterbox case, this thing is huge, and heavy. You could knock a man out with it. If you like lightweight, flimsy phones, the Pixel 7 Pro is not for you.Coming from a modded Xiaomi Note 9Pro (Pixel ROM), this real Pixel is like moving from a Cadillac to a Mercedes. Xiaomi makes a great phone, and I loved mine, it held up better than any other phone I've ever had, since my Nokia 3310, and my wife is still using hers we bought at the same time, (I ran over mine with a trailer) but I am in Love with this Pixel. I usually run phones to destruction, so let's see how long it lasts.

Otterbox cases are generally top grain products. I've never found them to be a poor choice when it comes to keeping a phone safe.When I don't buy an Otterbox for my device it's usually because it's either not available or my wallet tells me no. I believe the latter was true when I purchased the Pixel 7 Pro. Instead, I purchased an Encased product. That product initially was quite satisfactory. Part of the case failed way too soon and I started looking for a replacement.The Otterbox product became available at a too good to resist price and so I ordered immediately.Installation wasn't bad, it's obviously not a case you can expect to pop on and off daily. It's not a stylish case all the cool kids might want (glaring at my kid). I'm both irritated by and pleased with the "stickiness" of the case. It can be harder to slide into my pocket than other cases but also isn't as likely to slip out of my hand or off the dash of my car. The good absolutely outweighs the bad here.If I think of it, I'll update the review when it either fails or I get a new phone.The only real bad aspect of the product is its holster. I will often need my phone on my body but not in my pocket as something "else" goes into that pocket and is best kept unseen by the masses for their piece of mind. I don't like a holster that clips from the side which Otterbox seems generally to do. I got lucky when I discovered the Otterbox case clips nicely into the Encased holster for my prior case. Encased sells some holsters individually that are marketed for specific Otterbox cases so this didn't surprise me.I didn't tive the Otterbox case five stars due to the holster, otherwise a great product.

I have always used Otterbox cases on my phones. At some point I thought that maybe I am paying too much for the name and tried other cases; some were good, some not. On my last phone I had the replace the screen protector many times since there was no protective edge on the case that I had then, so on my new phone I decided to go back to Otterbox because of the prominent raised edge around the screen - I have noticed that I actually suffered most damage in the past because of the edge not being well protected.On the Pixel 7 Pro with the raised camera lenses in the back this is also one of the only cases where the lenses are not protruding past the case.The fit and finish is good and I am sure my phone will be well protected. The only downside compared to others might be that it is bulkier than most other cases, but the thicker case is actually easier to hold.

So, I always buy Otterbox cases for my phones, but this is the most severe phone accident I've had to date. About a week after I received the case, I was walking out to my car with my hands full. I put the phone on the roof so I could open the car and load the back. I forgot the phone was on the roof. I left, and got on the highway. Once I accelerated to around 55 MPH I heard a sliding on the roof. I then immediately remembered my phone on the roof. Before I could hit the brake, I see my phone fly off my roof in the rearview mirror and bounce on the asphalt in rush hour traffic.I immediately pulled over and walked back to retrieve what was left of my brand new Pixel 7 Pro. To my amazement, not a scratch on the phone. Just a couple of minor scuffs to the corners of the rubber on the outer portion of the case. I pulled the rubber off, and no cracks on the phone or the inner hard portion of the case. Thank You Otterbox for saving my rand new phone!
