It took about 4 hours to copy 60GB of extremely important data from a removed SSD hard drive that I had with all my super important work files on it
Worth every penny and then some. I bought this product, aware that it was VERY affordable and may not do anything. I was also aware that depending on how it was packaged, it may arrive damaged. However, it did EXACTLY what I needed it to, and what two devices that cost triple its amount, would not do. It took about 4 hours to copy 60GB of extremely important data from a removed SSD hard drive that I had with all my super important work files on it, after i dropped my work laptop into a parking lot and straight into a puddle. This thing was well worth the purchase price and the wait. I will now be taking orders from people who are seeking to retrieve data from solid state hard drives, that have been removed from a damaged machine. One key point, the HDD must be functioning. This thing is Great, but it's not magic. If you have a toshiba or equivalent generic MSATA SSD Hard drive, I strongly recommend using this product. It has a strong blue LED indicator to let know it is working and boy was that thing cranking. It will turn your SSD hard drive into a thumb drive. No drivers were even required. Thing started up and worked immediately. Love it. Wish all my electronics worked so well and for such a low cost. 5 stars and 2 thumbs up. If you're not technically inclined to using this product, I would seek the help of someone who is. In other words, if you can't remove the hard drive from the laptop to get it hooked to this thing, find someone who can. The rest of it can be done by a 3 year old. It's drag and drop all day. Slow, but much faster than your typical USB 2.0 drag and drop operations. Speeds as high 29MB per second, depending on file Type and as low as 77KB per second. But like I said, it did the job perfectly and it copied 60GB in approx 4 hours. Officially and legitimately a LIFE SAVER. THANK YOU To its manufacturer!

It worked perfectly the first time
Remove the screws, slip in the drive, replace the screws and plug it into a USB slot, done. Windows finds it immediately and mounts it.There's a catch that I'd like to share. I bought this because my wife's Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro running Windows 8 failed to boot, some variant of BSOD and it couldn't recover. She had files on there that weren't backed up so I needed to find a way to recover them. The catch is that after mounting, the permissions for accessing the files were passed on to my Win 10 box so I got a permission denied message when I tried to copy them. My work around was to use WinDirStat to locate the directories on the drive, open a command line in that location through WinDirStat which somehow bypassed the permissions and then use DOS to pull the files; xcopy /S * D:\Storage\YogaBackupDone. The permissions did not transfer so we can use the files. Thanks seller, you helped us save a bunch of important personal stuff.

A minimal but quite satisfactory solution
A laptop failed and trapped data on the SSD. This was a very inexpensive way to get at the data. It does not take too much skill to put the SSD in this adapter and plug it into a USB port. Just slide the SSD into the slot and tighten two small screws. This assumes you know how to open the computer, find the drive and take it out in the first place. Once you have the SSD drive out, it is easy to put in this adapter and plug it into a USB port.Note that this adapter has some circuitry exposed, and I suspect that it may not be an ideal solution if you need to carry the SSD and adapter around and plug/unplug it a lot. However it is an inexpensive solution if you need to access an SSD from outside a computer (rather than installed inside), and don't have to transport it or handle it a lot.

It works, but it runs hot.
So, I just received this a few minutes ago and I put it through some paces. First off, it is super simple to use, plug and play and you're good. For this particular transfer I was using a Crucial M200 msata drive and it fits perfectly into the slot as well as on the device where the screw downs were. Once I got all of that installed, I simply plugged it into one of my USB 3.0 slots (it does work with 2.0 too) and my PC immediately recognized it. After that transfer went off without a hitch. After the transfer was done (Approx. 100MBs worth of data) I safely ejected the drive from my PC and went to remove it, when I touched it it was definitely warm to the touch and that was only after 100MBs worth of data. I can only imagine how hot it would get after gigs. So the temp is really the only issue I can say look out for when using this device. Outside of that though for the price you're paying you can't beat it. It does exactly as described and does a good job of it as well. I would recommend this for people just trying to pull stuff off of a suspected dead drive but I can't suggest it for use in lieu of a USB as the temps are likely to burn if not careful.

Works like a charm!
My wife's laptop's motherboard went out so we took it to BestBuy's Geeksquad. They confirmed it was the motherboard and said that they might be able to recover the harddrive data. They tried and said they couldn't. I knew the drive had to be okay so I found this mSATA SSD adapter and ordered it. As soon as it showed up (fast delivery) I plugged her HDD into it and inserted it into the USB drive of my laptop. You need to give it Administrator authority but then, wow. All her files were there. It was like looking at file manager on her old laptop. We recovered all of her data for her new laptop. I highly recommend this device. Works like a charm.

Great for imaging an old drive
Was able to pull a backup off of a drive from a machine that died with this mSATA Adapter . It took ~3 hours for an 8GB disk but I didn't go searching for bottlenecks and it could have just been the disk itself.I could even add it as a disk in Hyper-V. It's performance inside Hyper-V was poor but I didn't bother trying to tune it.The chip did get a little warm (not too hot to hold a touch but hot enough that it was uncomfortable) so I wouldn't expect this to survived lots of prolonged IO without at least attaching a heat sink.Vendor ID: 174CDevice ID: 55AAName: ASMT 2115 USB Device
