I ordered this breather but it would not fit my 5.7 Chevy Vortec because the neck of the breather was too big to fit the 3/4 inch grommet in the valve cover. I returned the item. If you have 3/4 inch grommets on your 4.3 it will not fit.

Q: Is this the push type?

Yes, This type goes over the breather tube near the thermostat on the intake manifold.

Q: Does it come with the rubber grommet?

Mine did not. I also ordered the matching valve covers. the valve covers came with the new grommets.

Q: Would like to replace my pcv valve and hose with a breather in my 41 ford with a sbc. would this help my mileage and perf or mess up my chrome covers?

These dress up your valve covers and provide some functionality. It is a breather so you will have some blow-by but it is minimal. I used the large diameter rubber for the valve cover hole with the factory breather and the smaller diameter rubber for the PCV valve hole. I did not notice any change in performance.
