GVM lights aren’t just good for their price, they’re good lights period.
I love GVM lights. I have never had any issues with the lights not working or overheating. I ran a light outside in 90+ heat at 100% power continuously for several hours with no issues. The results were fantastic. With a CTO gel it looked like sunlight coming through the window. I seriously can not recommend GVM lights enough. Their build quality, the results, the features it’s a premium product on a budget friendly price. I own 3 of these 300watt lights. In fact, my entire lighting kit is exclusively GVM.

It's a health hazard!!!
It worked for 10 minutes and then shut down due to the high temperature. It seems like the fan inside of it is spinning too slow - either by design or due to malfunction. While I was inspecting it, I've inhaled the air that went through this terrible device and soon enough I've felt dizziness, nausea and burning sensation in my lungs. This thing smells like cancer!!Bright, but cheap and nasty piece of rubbish.

Super Bright. Good Build.
Most LED video lights you see are 60w. Maybe 120w on occasion. This badboy is 300w. That is crazy bright. This comes in super handy if you are filming in an area with some ambient light, using large modifiers, or have to keep your light source far away from your subject. I've run into a few occasions where having a 300w light would have made the job so much easier. The build quality is really nice. It is a plast type materia, but looks and feels like it is built well. There are some metal parts (watch for heat). I consider this a bonus for handling the heat.It has a standard Bowens mount. This is superhelpful if you have other lights (Godox???) that use the same Bowen system. Attaching modifiers feels nice and secure. The power cable is pretty straight forward. It clips into the back of the unit, with the power pack being stand mountable. A long cable connects the power pack to the wall. The reflector is awesome. It really focuses the light, getting you some extra output from it. Way nicer than most 7" reflectors that comes with these lights. It has a diffusion cap. I had to look up if it was to protect the LED chip during travel (no protection cap was included) or if it was a diffusor. I'm a bit chicken to use it as the chip gets HOT during use. I'll probably just use it for travel protection.Color seems accurate (5600k).The fan is a bit loud. That's expected for a light of this power. It generates a bunch of heat and you have to get some airflow. If the light is going to be really close to talent or a microphone, it'll pick it up. If you have some distance, a lapel mic, or a mounted shotgun mic, I don't think you'll notice it. There is no fan adjustment - it turns on as needed. The operation and dial are pretty straight forward an intuitive. You rotate the "BRG" dial and it will adjust the brightness level. You may need to toggle through the "Modes" to "rotate" to adjust it. Otherwise you'll be in Master/Slave modes. I wish there was just a master/slave switch vs all the modes. But not a biggie. DMX needs an adapter (not included) - but doesn't show up on the modes until one is plugged in.It comes with a nice travel/storage case, too. It'll keep everything nicely together.I do have 2 wishlist items for this:1) I want the controls on the power supply vs the until. When it is mounted and positioned, you'll have to get to the back of the unit to adjust it (or use the app). Having controls on the power supply would keep it down lower for easy access.2) A cheap remote control. It would be handy to not have to use the APP every time you want to use the light. Sometimes you just want to turn it on.For 1/2 the price of an Aperature, this thing is a bargin.

Overall a great light
GVM 300W LED light is a great value, especially when compared to other 300W lights from popular brands. This light is BRIGHT! It comes packed very well in a nice carrying case and came with a reflector, small diffuser, and power cord/brick. For most applications, you will probably need some kind of light modifier like a softbox or lantern attachment. This 300 watt light is far more powerful than I need, I could probably get away with a 200w or even a 100w light but I like having enough power to have some versatility just in case I might need it in the future. Right now with a large softbox I just have it around 10% power and it works great. My only complaints about this light are...- The power cable that goes from the light to the power brick is too short for most applications and the power brick is too heavy to let it just hang down. I attached some velcro to the back of the power brick and to the side of my C-stand and it seems to be working well but when I move it to some other kind of stand I have to figure out what to do with the power brick so it won't put stress on the power connector.- The GVM II app works pretty well BUT has some kind of intro screen that looks like an ad and says "skip in XX seconds" but it just has the GVM logo on it and delays starting the app. It's kind of frustrating when you just want to get in and change the brightness or turn the light on/off to have to wait for that countdown so you can use the app. It's also frustrating that I had to download a 2nd app when I already have the GVM app that works with some of their other light panels. Why not make one app that will work with all your products, like Aputure does? Those issues are pretty small and the light is bright, well-built, and affordable so I can live with the little issues. Overall, this is a great light and perfect for my uses. Very happy with it.

Great buy
Great buy. Good price. Sturdy housing. I REALLY wish they included a protective cover for the yellow square the light comes from, and a diffuser would be nice. No real problem with this continuous light, but I'm starting to see why flash probably worth the money. Continuous lighting, ESPECIALLY with diffusion, just doesn't provide enough light. It can be blinding, considering how close Continuous lights have to be to the subject. Very simple to use for newbies like myself.
