Just about the best soup paste
A great product -- usually buy it from a local Japanese grocery store. Surprised to see it at Amazon. I use it for all kind of cooking: soups, sauté, stir fry, etc. Use only a very small qty at a time (1/2 tea spoonful for most dishes), so that one jar lasts for awhile.

Great flavor
It easily add flavor to veggie stir-fry. I love it.

The best Chinese soup base you can buy.
I really would not call this Beef soup base but it tastes more like a pork and chicken and beef combo, and is excellent to add a little to chicken soup stock or to a beef soup or stew. It's concentrated so a little goes a long way. Stir fry's, sauces, chow mein. lo mein etc, this stuff gives it an extra something that completes a dish. I make Wonton soup with homemade unsalted Chicken stock from 1 chicken and a tablespoon of this stuff. Good for a quick ramen soup with just this and some noodles and water. It doesn't need to be a Chinese dish, you can use this as you would boullion cubes in any dish.

I received a product that had expired 9 months before it got shipped to me!
The stock I received on Feb 18 of this year had expired on May 18, 2022, and I can't even get a refund because I didn't think to use it until a couple of days ago and the deadline for returning this product was March 19. Can't believe a long expired product got shipped to me. So irresponsible. I will start looking at the expiration date immediately on anything I receive from now on.

It is the traditional Japanese soup base
Have been used for so many years and it has been great. I used it on every Asian dishes (soups, boil veggies, stir fry etc.). This is the only one that has unique umami.
