A Perfect Solution for Mobile Weather Station
Better than local parts. My husband installed this mast off a Thule963 bike rack that was on our RAV4's spare tire. He now has a mobile weather station. He drilled a small hole after fitting the mast over the left upright of the bike stand. Very sturdy. He checked at the local hardware store and could not have matched the quality of these parts much cheaper.

Makes installing your Davis Weather station simple!
I used this mounting pole to install my Davis Pro2 weather station on the top of a 9 foot landscape timber. The combination of the custom made pole and the sturdy timber make for a rock solid installation. I suppose one could assemble these pieces themselves for less money but a little research showed that would take some effort. Just get the purpose made item and be done!!

& the mounting hardware was WAY better then you can buy in the home improvement centers
I bought the Davis mounting pole kit, yes you can buy cheaper pipe at Home Depot etc., but I found the kit to be extremely solid, the galvanization was extremely thick, & the mounting hardware was WAY better then you can buy in the home improvement centers. This is important to me as the weather station is mounted on the top of my two story shed, & I don't want to have to climb up an extension ladder to replace the hardware/pole. As a suggestion, I put a straight line down the length of both pipes in permanent marker before they were mounted. The piece of pipe attached to my Vantage view has the line oriented to the photocells (South). The other piece of pipe is mounted on a 4x4 attached to the shed, with the lines also facing dead South (as verified by my iPhone compass in TRUE NORTH Mode, not magnetic North mode). This way, when I need to replace the batteries, or clean the rain sensor, I just pull the pipes apart, & when I put them back, I line up the lines, & the station is facing true South, with no need to re measure or use a compass. I hope this was helpful

Too short!
The two piece pipe doesn’t get over the roof or other mounting surface. Not worth the price. 😡

Easy to install
Davis mounting poles were easy to install with the hardware provided. By easy I mean that even without instructions it was obvious what steps to take. The quality of the hardware was high compared to other kits where the torque I applied during installation bent a piece. The total length of pole available gave me several options for location. I had enough length and hardware to make it stable but elevated enough off the corner of an upper level deck to ensure open space around the station and sufficient height off the ground.

Don't Bother
While the kit worked as described, what I didn't realize is that it is really just two pieces of galvanized conduit. Buy yourself a piece of electrical conduit and a couple of clamps at your local hardware store for less than $10. This kit is approximately four-feet of pole (total when assembled), one foot is used to mount the pole, so you effectively only get three feet of height (above a fence or wherever you install it). A piece of 10-foot x 1-inch conduit will work just as well and give you much greater height. Feel like I wasted a lot of money on this product, thus the two stars. If a person didn't mind wasting money, I'm sure they would give it the full five stars.
