These bulbs are more decorative than functional.... Think of them more as night lights than functional light bulbs. Their color temperature is very warm and the wattage is a bit misleading -- I have C5/7 nightlight bulbs that are brighter than these. They are neat as a low light spotlight in a fixture that has diff't settings for which bulbs are on/off (i.e. a 3-way switch) and best where you can look up at them to see the beautiful pattern (which, unlike Edison bulbs, doesn't transfer onto illuminated surfaces well at all). So if you're looking to create a neat light show on a wall or ceiling, these will not give you that.... They're all about looking at the bulb itself. I use one in a ceiling fan as a low light spotlight for a staircase (effectively a nightlight) and another as a low light spotlight/nightlight above a kitchen table -- the latter is on a dimmer and I've found the bulb is dimmable without any flickering or other odd behavior.To sum up, these are best in darkest areas where a night light effect is desired and in fixtures and positions allowing for the bulbs to be seen from below. They are not meant to provide ample/adequate lighting in a room at all.... Their color temp. makes them, I'd say, unsuitable for reading by.

Accent lighting

Unless your room is pitch black or you are staring directly at the bulb, you can't see that these are even on. I was hoping they would cast a nice pattern but they don't cast any light at all. If the room is dark enough to see these, its too dark to see anything else. Pretty disappointing.

Think it's incandescent since it runs so hot. Looks great but can't use it where I had intended which is a lamp with a dimmer that makes the lights flicker. I'm using it elsewhere and the effect is great. Could be brighter but then it would be even hotter. A lower wattage LED dimmable version would be ideal.

This lightbulb wasn’t anything like I expected or how it was described. I bought two, which arrived in separate packaging weeks apart. One looked like it had been laying around a while and had some tainted spots on the bulb. It would be nice as a nightlight in a kid’s bedroom maybe, but it’s not nearly as fun as I thought it would be. Very dim and even when all other lights are turned off, it’s just nothing exciting. Would not buy again.

Looks exactly is I've seen in videos and pictures. Comes from China and takes forever, otherwise it's a great product.

Very dim for lighting and very dim with sparkling effects. The effects was the very reason to buy the bulbs. Would never purchase again.
