A fantastic addition
This grip is a wonderful addition to the Panasonic Lumix GX9, enhancing the ergonomics of the camera perfectly. The grip itself is sturdy and well built but crucially, it is lightweight. It enhances the size of the grip without removing the advantages and purpose of the GX9s compact size. It makes the camera much more comfortable, especially if you use larger or heavier MFT lenses with the GX9.Three important features for me are:1. The grip has an opening on the bottom plate to give full access to the battery compartment on the GX9, making the exchange of both batter and SD Card easy without having to remove the grip each time.2. When attached, it moves the tripod mounting point back preventing and tripod plates fouling the bases of some larger lenses.2a. The grip also feature Arca Swiss compatibility removing the need for an Arca Swiss plate completely if you use such a tripod head.3. The front of the grip is covered with a similar material to the GX9s body, making the grip feel like a natural part of the camera and comfortable in the hand. If a camera feels good, one wants to use it and this grip really contributes the camera’s feel. This is a better value proposition than the official Lumix grip which is both larger and blocks access to the battery compartment completely.I have used JJC accessories on multiple systems, including lens hoods for Fuji and Olympus lenses and a grip plate for a Fuji XT20. This grip plate for the Panasonic Lumix GX9 is the best product I have purchased in terms of feel and quality and would not hesitate to recommend both this particular grip and JJC for other similar products.

Superb addition to a superb camera
The OEM bracket is beautifully made, very expensive and has to be removed to gain access to the battery/SD card chamber. This JJC bracket is beautifully made, is over half the price of the OEM bracket and allows full access to the battery/SD chamber. What is not to like?Highly recommended, this superb bracket fits exactly, is very well engineered and the textured grip matches the camera body. Handling is much improved and the design does not add too much to the overall dimensions of the camera body. It is particulary effective when longer lenses are fitted. Cracking bit of kit.

Effective
Does what it’s meant to and is very effective. Good access to battery and memory card, though latter can be fiddly to get out.

A very useful addition for the GX9
The Panasonic GX9 is a great little camera, but the grip is slightly small. This little grip and base plate is well made and complements the camera extremely well, giving that welcome extra grip. The bottom plate has been made to fit an Arca Swiss tripod plate, avoiding additional tripod plates. Works very well. Expensive, but if you plan to keep your GX9 as long as possible, as I do, it's definitely a very good buy. Recommended.

Does everything it promises - while not standing out as an after-market accessory.
Leaving aside the question of why this wasn’t incorporated into the original design and the differences between the Panasonic and this design (covered in many previous reviews) this is a important accessory adding depth to the camera’s built in grip as well as height resulting in a more stable platform - especially when working with lens without separate lens stabilisation. For me an added bonus is the addition of the Arca tripod attachment lip along the bottom front of the grip - not that I have a suitably tripod. In the few minutes I have fitted and experimented I found that it is ideally placed to be gripped by the left hand in order to provide more stability when the camera is hand-held.I didn’t struggle with using the camera before - even when using many heavy legacy lens, although I did find handling them by the lens ‘throat’ not ideal in terms of stability. This grip may not dramatically improve my photography but it will improve my confidence in handling the camera, which although prices are falling is still a significant cost for many..

It works!
Any review of a product is inevitably a personal one and therefore has a subjective element to it. However I must say that I am glad that I decided to buy this grip even after using my GX80 for sometime without it. It certainly feels good and has made a significant improvement to the handling of the camera. Although I haven't got particularly large hands it has still made a big difference. I haven't had experience with the Panasonic grip but videos and reviews all mention the fact that you cannot access the battery or the SD card without taking it off although it may well have a more substantial grip. The JJC grip has taken that into account and it is well made and well designed so that battery and card are accessible without taking it off. The design also goes with the camera form i.e. A compact, rangefinder M43 camera; it looks as though it was designed to go with the camera and doesn't look like an "add-on" (although it is!). It may well be that this still won't satisfy someone with large hands but I would imagine it would make a significant difference to many. Well done JJC!

It's a little pricey...but...
...you'll not go wrong. It fits my GX80 perfectly and the difference with this grip is like night and day. Already I feel more comfortable with the camera. I have fairly large hands and so having the extra grip is important. You know what I love the most? The build in Arca mount - my GOD this feels so right - doesn't stick out, doesn't feel like it's gonna rip the camera apart like some heavier plates. The whole grip itself is surprisingly lightweight but when off the camera but offers a reassuring feel and weight to the whole setup when attached. My only gripe is price. It's a little excessive for what it is, but I can't complain on the quality. If price isn't an issue, buy it.
