Heavy & solid
Bought on off chance it would work with metal card press dies as only £67 when on offer. Arrived next day ready assembled. All metal construction (whereas card die press machines typically plastic rollers and just as expensive). However wasn't suitable as pressure applied over large area so unable to generate enough force to perforate paper. That said I can see press being useful by others for intended purpose of book binding (or flower pressing) etc. so am happy to keep and recommend.

Works well but!
I was really looking forward to getting the book press, but a bit disappointed when I opened the package as the bottom base plate paint was chipped along the front edge. As it didn’t affect the overall working of the press, I kept it. But I think that as this was a pricey purchase, it should have been properly vetted before sending it out.

Not as pretty as a classic nipping press but does the job well
As a hobbyist book binder I had been looking for one of the fancy cast iron nipping presses but the prices are either too high, delivery exorbitant or pick up hundred of miles away. This is a neat little press and handles everything I need. Superb bit of kit.

Good construction, BUT.....
Next too useless. Marks the centre of the pressed items?

Not pretty, but pretty impressive
Hugely heavy, but then that’s good. Maybe not for the delivery driver for me it’s just what I want to flatten Prince

Perfect for squishing A5 stapled booklets!
After some experimentation, I found the best way to squish down A5 stapled booklets was to rotate alternate booklets 180 degrees and then offset all the spines slightly inwards (to ensure maximum pressure is applied to the spine/staples - see the attached image). I also found that you need to leave it clamped like this for 12-24 hours for best results. Overall very pleased.

Basic press heavy and does the job
The finish is utilitarian but it presses ok so it does its job and considering the price of forged or cast vintage presses it a good buy.

Printing press
Perfectly suitable as a printing press for relief prints, especially wood engravings. The price around £100 compares favourably with the considerably higher prices offered by the established printmaking suppliers.
