Quality mounting plate
I purchased this item to hold my laptop for camera tethering or general mounted use. Just make sure whatever you're mounting it to you have the right adapter or it is the correct threading I adapted it down to a standard tripod mount and mounted this on a ball head with the counterweighted boom stand and it works extremely well the metal also acts as a heat sink and cools the computer down and the slats cut into it keep any excess heat from building up her used to use a laptop cooling pad but with this I do not need it. I'm currently using this with a MacBook Pro 15 inch and it fits very securely I feel confident leaving The laptop on the mount without worrying it will slip out

Great addition to my mic stand to create a laptop station or workspace in my studio
With all of the recent zoom calls I have been doing I needed a solution for a convenient, sturdy and portable way to isolate my laptop and be able to use it for teleconferencing.I had a sturdy mic stand already and this was a super value to attach to the top, so I could use it sitting or standing. It has a couple of brackets to secure your laptop in place, is vented for cooling, comes with adhesive foam pads to cushion, and is made of sturdy metal.Once I assembled, I found I used it for other things around the studio besides just a laptop mount, really any reason you would need a small surface, like to hold an ipad as a teleprompter, hold a small mixer, prop up a smart phone while shooting a selfie or face-timing, etc. Here's the catch, you will need a sturdy mic stand with a standard adapter for it to work correctly (to attach it to). I already had one so I only had to spend the $15 to make mine work perfectly. I was going to give it 4 stars only because I felt like it should have a tilt feature built in, but for $15 you can't expect too many moving parts!

Great laptop table
Pleasantly surprised given the low price! I'm a photographer and I've been looking for a more portable laptop table that I can fly with. All of the others by Matthews and TetherTools are a little too large to fit in a packed flight case or backpack. At just 10 inches deep this one works great! I figured it would be cheap plastic but no - it's made of sturdy black coated metal! It even has ventilation slots - TetherTools doesn't even have that! And it has adjustable metal grips that can hold on to the side of your laptop and keep it steady. The only issue I have is one of the front screw holes for a clip(?) was mis-drilled and won't work. But those clips are too small to be useful anyway so no big deal. It also didn't come with any instructions on how to assemble the parts. One note - if you're a photographer who wants to use this you'll need an adapter to fit the 5/8 female mount onto your 3/8 or 1/4 screws that tripods and photo stands use.

I needed a laptop stand for tethered camera shots
I had a spare mic stand and decided to use it as a laptop stand while doing tethered camera shots. It is made of heavy steel, painted flat black, screws directly to a 5/8 mic stand, and has enough adjustable points to keep your laptop from falling off by accident (a big plus!) I like this laptop platform, good stuff, made well enough I may never need to buy another one.

Does not fit a 3/8 or 1/4 camera stand. Must purchase a separate adapter.
Very sturdy laptop stand but they should include a 3/8” adapter. Not everyone is buying this to use on a mic stand. I’ve had to purchase a separate adapter to make it work with my camera stands. Otherwise, I’d given this a five star rating all day long. Looks like it’ll last a long time.

Converts a mic stand to a laptop desk
It's a little smaller than I need, but some customized 'bungee cords' keep my laptop secure. The adjustable pieces that come with it would be enough for many uses, just not for an 11x16" laptop.Adapter welded on the bottom (photo 1) can be screwed directly onto a mic stand. but then you have no ability to level or tilt the thing. I am using a fairly large ball-turret intended for a camera on top of a tripod, so once the laptop is attached and open, I can balance the weight front-back using the ball/socket. The 'plate' (photo 2) would normally be attached to the bottom of a camera, so it can be attached or separated from the ball head (photo 3) easily. Once the plate is tightened in the ball turret (photo 4), it can be adjusted for balance and/or angle (photo 5). I can't weld, so this may seem cumbersome to you, but I did it all with a couple of mic stand-to-camera thread adapters (3/8" x 16 tpi, 1/4" x 20 tpi). If you don't need tilt capability, just slap it on a standard mic stand and you're in business!
