It's rare to see games like this anymore, or PC iterations with this level of quality.
So, it's not the best adventure game I've ever played, but I can't deny that Telltale has a way of... uh, telling their tales well, if this game is any indication--and it is my introduction to their works, indeed. Excellent writing and such.I will admit to being disappointed as to how much your choices actually make a difference when that first play-through makes it seem like endless possibilities, but hey, not every game can be a Deus Ex.I also wish that the game wasn't as stifling towards your interaction options as it is... I mean, why have this 'point and click' interface if there is often only one real action that you can make to a given situation? I understand you don't want too much silliness in a game of this nature, but I've played some old adventure games from text parsers to mouse inputs, and remember all the silly little interactions you can make in all of those, for example, being completely free to randomly flirt with other NPCs would be completely normal in a great deal of games like Snatcher--a game with a big budget at the time--but here, I honestly feel half of the time this game wouldn't feel any different at all if it just adopted contemporary controls for its actions--it would probably even have the benefit of cutting back on the admitted liberal use of "God of War quicktime button cues™".Oh, and the puzzles are often pretty simple but that's not too surprising considering they haven't been popular since about 2007 or so. They're still pretty good for being as simple as they are, and baby steps for getting games like this to be freaking MADE anymore.Oh, and the visuals, while stylized to a good effect, they can't possibly hide some of the extremely low-quality textures here and there...I'm... really surprised how many flaws I'm actually pointing out in this game right now actually...!I really like The Walking Dead despite everything I mentioned though--though not as flexible as I'd like it to be, the highlight here is undoubtedly how your actions can very often (especially towards the final Episodes) make a difference that isn't completely cosmetic. And I legitimately like the characterization and narrative to boot! I love games that allow you the time to puzzle through things, discuss with NPCs in meaningful--non fetch-quest, non-coercive manner! In short, they don't make games like this anymore!I'd probably give the actual game a 4/5, but this is a very special PC version of a game for the following reasons:-No Steam integration of any sort-No product key entry of any sort-No "install limits" or ghastly "always online" DRM-You can install it on multiple computers at the same timeIt also comes with all five Episodes of Season One for a competitive price.WHY DON'T THEY MAKE PC PORTS LIKE THIS ANYMORE!?!?!It's a breath of fresh air after seeing the ludicrous business practices of companies like Ubisoft, for example. In short, Telltale is doing special things, so I'm supporting them as long as they keep it up.

I'm glad I was able to get the "Definitive" release on DVD. I got it installed. Got a "hard copy" and love it.

worth it after 2 defective discs
I'm glad I gave this game another shot. The game is very fun, as long as you don't get a bad disc. I got a defective install disc. I tried it on two computers and it froze on the same spot in installation. Amazon was awesome though, they sent me a new copy and gave me free return shipping on the original. I received the second disc and it froze at the same point in installation as the first disc. I took it out and look at it. It appears to have large imperfections in the area that the program was written to(under the hard plastic). You can see gaps in the surface. It looks as though very cheap discs were used to put the game on. I don't think the device they wrote the data with could do that. I tried one more time and the this time did the trick. The game installed fine...Well at first it got to the same section of install it had previously froze at and stuck. Well I got up for about 5 minutes and the game had finished the install. The first discs I had gotten I gave more than 30 minutes once they got to this point and it never progressed.Well, on to gameplay. I have played three episodes so far and am enjoying this game. My family has been watching me play this game in the living room (I connecting my laptop to television using an HDMI cable)as if it were the show. They were even yelling at the TV. This game sucks you in. It does have a slow pace, but it builds to moments that you have to make quick decisions and feels very much the same as the comics and show. I haven't experienced any bugs or lag in gameplay. This is the non-steam disc version. I didn't want to download the game and I didn't want to have to go through steam, so this disc was perfect for me. All of the episodes and 400 days are installed to your hard drive from the disc. I put the disc up and played from my hard drive. I would recommend this game to anyone who loves the Walking Dead comics or show.

Game gets stuck and cant be fixed
This is the first time I have ordered a game from the company. This game is stuck and I can not progress past one point. There is a rewind option for when you get stuck and it does not work. I deleted the episode I was playing and started a new game. I chose the option to not populate decisions up to that point and the game would not start. I chose to populate past decisions and it moved me right to the stuck spot I was at in the game I had deleted. I have uninstalled the game and will see if I can go back and play it again. If the whole game is as poorly written as what I experienced I will never see the game to the end. Spending more than $2 dollars on this game is a waste of money.

Everyone wants to borrow it
I love it ans so has every one of my friends and family who has asked to play on my laptop as well.***I just want to address all the other reviews I saw about people having issues controling their mouse while playing and having it jump all over tje screen on them. The proble is they are using the mouse pad on their laptops most likely and that is where the problem is. To play this game and have the best control possible you need to attach a separate mouseto your laptop to use with it. For some reason the touch screen mouse or the touch screen laptop is too jumping and the handheld regular mouseworks the best for control and to be able to aim and shoot at the same time as well.
