Powerful, good value for money
I bought this to replace a similar type of drill that I purchased cheaply from Argos about 5 years ago, and which served me well. This drill is powerful considering it is not a proper hammer (SDS) drill, but just a powerful rotary drill and looks sturdy and well-made. It comes with a selection of drill bits that are probably useless - I didn't even bother trying to use them, but used my own masonry drill bits. It also comes with a few screw driver bits, although I don't think this drill would work very well as a screw driver. In theory you could use it as one, as the speed can be adjusted, but in practise, I wouldn't advise it. This drill is powerful enough for most jobs: the bricks on the outside of my house are very hard to drill into, but with a good masonry drill bit, this was able to handle the job. I always tend to go with cheap and cheerful when it comes to power tools, as I don't use them that much, and am very happy with this drill for the price. It is quite heavy, but it definitely does not weigh 4.5 kg (or 10 lbs as one person said in response to a question). A large SDS will weigh that, this one weighs 2.3 kg (or around 5 lbs) according to my kitchen scales (it doesn't sit properly on the plate, so this might not be totally accurate, but am sure it weighs no more than 2.5 kg). I can easily hold it up above head height for as long as needed to drill a couple of holes, and I am a 50 years old, small and female. It is definitely heavier than a cordless drill, but it makes up for that in power - I've found cordless drills to be useless except for lightest jobs. The cable is 198 cms long, measured from the base of the drill, but not including the plug. It doesn't come in a plastic case as power tools often do, just in a box, but that didn't bother me.

power drill
good strong drill, it's a bit heavy, good wattage does all the things most drills do and for the price it's a bargain

Good buy, good price
Wasn't expecting much for the price. But had some DIY jobs to do, so needed a hammer action drill, to do them.Using a small diameter drill bit, I drilled 2 inch into my wall. No force or hurry, as I didn't want to damage the drill. I then used a larger drill bit to finish the hole.I am very happy with the result. I have many more holes to drill and feel confident this drill will do them.Good buy for diy jobs, if used correctly. You get what you pay for.

Just Unlucky or Cheap and Nasty ?
I very rarely use a corded drill unless one of my battery drills are not fully charged or up to the task, I:e drilling into brickwork or concrete etc or using with a flap wheel, so I didn't want to spend a lot buying one just to sit around unused most of the time. My last one was a Skil hammer drill, purchased for about £25 over 20 years ago and had finally died hence me making this purchase. I chose this model due to the spec and the asthetics. It looked well made, not cheap and nasty like some for the same money. It also had a good guarantee. I had it a couple of weeks without needing to use it, then the day I did, I drilled 3x10mm pilot holes in a 40mm worktop to cut out for a sink without a problem. Upon drilling the fourth, there was a loud clunk/bang from inside the drill and it lost all drive. The motor was turning but the chuck was stationary. I can only assume something in the drive/gearbox self destructed. Very disappointed with this purchase ! I didn't expect Bosch or DeWalt quality for the price but I expected it to last longer than 10 mins. I guess the fault was already present and using it brought it to light. Maybe better QC control is needed. The drill was returned immediately and refunded promptly. My review is purely based on my experience. I am sure there are many happy customers. Funnily enough I would have given a replacement a go but the option wasn't offered by them.

It's not a bad hammer drill you pay for what you get it was only £34.00
It did come with a chuck key. And a cord the drill felt responsive and I am sure how long it just seemed cheap. It came with extra brushes which is a bad sign.

great quality drill
This is a great quality drill. well-made heavy-duty plastics. lots of power in the 1050w motor. not overly heavy but comfortable to hold with the adjustable handle. Good contact on the switch between 'drill' and 'hammer drill'. No rubber holder on the handle for the chuck key but not a big problem. I made a cord tether and attached it to the cable at the plug end. The chuck key is steel not cheap alloy so nice and strong. The chuck moves freely when adjusting for drill bit sizes with no grinding or jamming. Really nice machining on all the metal parts. I have the electric hot welding gun from this company too. Had it for a couple of years with lots of use and it still behaves like new so I am sure I will get good reliable use from this drill too. Very happy with this drill and would highly recommend the 'Terratec' brand and the seller.
