Works great for even slices
I've tried various methods to get even slices. Knives with guides don't work very well, this bamboo slicer did the job perfectly. I liked that there are two thickness choices for the slices, depending which end you use to slice from. As with most bread slicing tools, the knife doesn't cut all the way to the bottom of the slice, you have to remove the load and finish the job on the counter.

I did a lot of research before buying
I was so nervous at first because some reviews were not good. I researched a long time before settling on this one and I'm glad I did. I've had it a while now and LOVE the fact that it had a crumb catcher. Trust me you need that feature if you make a lot of home made bread. It folds up easily and saves me space. I've not had any issues with the wood coming apart or my knife slicing it down. I would recommend

Catches Crumbs, Which Makes Me Happy
I have owned this slicer for a few months and I have to say it does the trick. I am actually on here, purchasing a replacement since someone in the home was diagnosed with Celiac Disease and we have to switch to GF and replace many kitchen items. My favorite feature is that it catches the crumbs. I am a busy mom with more than a few crumb factories (ie: children) living in this home. The last thing I need is more crumbs to wipe off the counter or land on my floor. My second favorite feature is that it folds up easily. The only improvements I would make to it are:I wish it had a case for storage. I have saved the box, but it will eventually wear out.It only needs two slice widths. The largest one is useless to me. My teenager accidentally used that once and it was quite entertaining watching her try to eat her very large sandwich. LOL She didn't waste food by throwing it out, but remembered to never use that size again!Other than that. It does what it's supposed to do and hasn't given us any problems.

Works, but need better QC prior to shipping
This bread slicer is ingeniously designed and quite attractive. It has two slice thicknesses that are accessed via moving a backstop from one end to another. While a bit too short with respect to how long the tines of the divider are, that is more a function of my making tall loaves. So why a three star review? Well, the QC is sketchy. My unit has a slight misalignment that cause the backstop to fit perfectly from one end, and quite poorly from the other end. I could see the misalignment affecting longevity because of the stress the misalignment puts on the folding mechanism. I kept it because it works and it collapses into a manageable size.

Great for lots of uses - soft material is prone to gouges
I make two sandwich loaves with my sourdough starter every week. One is for sandwiches, and I use the smaller guide for that. The other is for making stuffing, croutons, or bread crumbs...and I use the bigger guide for those. This sliding guide is perfect for everything I need. The only issue is that bamboo is soft. The first slice made noticable gouges in the base, but it does not affect how the product works.

Really useful device
I am very happy with the ease of use and ease of maintenance. I just pull it out of the box and flip over the sides to hold the bread. Then I choose the thickness, insert the divider, slice the bread (I skip a row for double thick slices) and when I'm finished I dust off the crumbs into the tray, flip down the sides, and store it away in the box. Best invention since sliced bread!!

Might work if you have a huge loaf and huge knife
I'll first point out that the box this comes in says they have a satisfaction guarantee and to write to 'info.service@globamboo.com' with any issues. Well, that email doesn't actually work. Gmail gives the error message, "The recipient server did not accept our requests to connect."The main issue with this bread slicer is that it's huge! On the positive side, the mechanism with the folding sides that spring into a locked position is very clever and the whole unit looks great. However, it is extremely wide and doesn't make sense to use with a normal-sized loaf of bread, or a normal bread knife. You can see in the photo a sourdough bread in the unit, as well as a 8" bread knife. You can see that there is a ton of room for the bread to wiggle around which is not ideal, but the real problem with the width is using a knife. You cannot move the knife in a cutting motion without it coming out of the other side, which completely defeats the purpose of the bread slicer. I could buy a much larger bread knife I suppose, but the one I have works fine, and 8" is a normal size for a bread knife. One shouldn't need a 12" bread knife and I'm not going to purchase one just to make the bread slicer work.As mentioned, I emailed their support to see if they could help me in any way, but that email doesn't even work so I'm leaving a 1 star review here. I wouldn't recommend buying this slicer, even though it's good looking, unless you eat huge loaves of bread and have a 12"+ bread knife.

Love the folding feature.
I love this slicer, and I love the folding feature. I love that it gives you options for different size slices. It is easy to clean and leaves a small footprint. When folded it fits nicely on top of my bread box just about the size of one of my smaller cutting boards!
