Great value
I have 2 Indio DLX guitars, the Cali DLX strat and the DLX tele. They are both very good guitars. I bought this Mini Cali for my 6 year old grandson. I had to polish the fret ends (which I expected, typical of all cheaper guitars) but I am very pleased with the overall quality of build, electronics and hardware. Except for the rough ends, the fret work was very good. I was able to set the action quite low with no fret buzz. This will make it much easier to play. Perfect for my grandson to learn on. Many people justify buying a cheap, crappy guitar when they are first learning, but this is a big mistake and part of the reason about 90% of the people who start end up quitting. A good quality guitar (doesn't have to be expensive if you do your homework) can be set up with the action low and therefore is much easier to fret chords and notes. That is a big deal always, but especially just starting out. Playing a stringed instrument is a very sensual, tactile experience, so it needs to feel good in your hands, like it belongs there, and the sound should match what you hear and feel inside. Then you will get what it is all about.

Good guitar for the money.
This guitar was very playable right out of the box. This is likely the best 3/4 size strat, and also, does have a tremolo bar. For what i play (rock n' roll) it does the job. I was looking for a short scale guitar, but could not afford a Lennon style Rickenbacker..This little guitar is well worth the cost and more.

Pass on this one
I guess these mini's dont get setup before delivery like the other monoprice guitars. Fret ends were not only sharp... but sticking slightly out of the fret board at the edges in quite a few spots. Strings were not radiused at the bridge. Neck was completely straight and needed some relief added. After filing down the frets and doing an extensive fret job, doing a complete setup, she plays pretty well now. Sounds ok. Not the greatest pickups. I dont think this guitar is worth it. Even at the $100 price point. I spent about 3 hours on this guitar doing the frets and setup. It doesnt like staying in tune either. I added a set of el cheapo locking tuners on it also. The cost on labor alone will be more than the guitar is worth. If you can do your own luthier work then its a cool little living room guitar. Otherwise I wouldnt reccommend it.

Like most of the least expensive guitars, be ready to get what you paid for.
I gave this item 5 stars because after spending countless amounts of hours researching and then after actually receiving the guitar Jan 12, I am pleasantly surprised.I read some reviews that gave both pros and cons. First off I will say the product itself is much better quality than I expected for the price. The manufacture, the paint, the hardware and the pickups and electronics exceeded my expectations. The first thing I did was to unbox the guitar, check for any issues and tune it up.I was really pleased with not only how it sounds but how well it plays right out of the box.I removed the factory strings. I think they are 9 gauge round wound.I installed 11 gauge diaddario flat wound strings. 10s would have been the norm but I had a set of 11s and at $18.00 per set they are worth recycling.Bends are a little more difficult but overall IMHO, I love the tone.I might throw a set of locking tuners if the originals go bad but other than that this thing sounds just as good as my high end guitars.I don't know how they do it but maybe I just got lucky. The frets were perfect. No sharp edges and absolutely no fret buzz. action is perfect for me.

Great value. My 8 year old son loves it. I recommend this one.
This is an awsome childs guitar. It looks and feels great... pickups are decent, tuners are good... tremolo is ok. I have some very nice guitars. When compared to $1000 Guitar it likely rates a 3.5.... but this is a $100 Guitar. One that is very good for the money. I bought this instead the mini squire. My 8 year old son loves it.

outstanding value
looking at the other reviews i guess the fit and finish on these is hit and miss, but mine far exceeded my expectations. i was looking for a small guitar for travel and chucking around the house. it desperately needed a setup, but i'm good at that. i also replaced the pickups with good stuff i had in my bin, but the stock pups were fine. fret ends are all smooth and required no attention. i never tried the tremolo -- i tightened the springs to deck the bridge and threw the trem arm away. these trems don't hold tune on fenders and i wouldn't expect them to hold tune on this cheap guitar. here's a tip: for better tuning stability, either tune sharp or use heavy strings. i used 11s and tuned to E standard and i'll put 12s on it next time i change strings.i think this guitar is a steal at $80. my neighbor just ordered one for his son and if it is disappointing i will update this review.
