Software / Cable worked at first try, now can't sync anymore
The first problem w/ sync of a blood glucose tester is that in the absence of an agreed API every engineer is going to reinvent the wheel and do the job his own way; therefore every meter will have it's own protocol for downloading the data; and the software must be custom written for each meter to read. Glooko supports 30 to 40 of the most popular meters having wired output jacks, including the Ultra2, which I currently use - and it says it is working on the next generation of Bluetooth supporting meters. The second problem is what platform to use to capture the data. I like Glooko's choice of Android & IOS phones and tablets for many reasons most especially that they are fully as mobile as the devices they read. After cleaning up my overfilled system memory, I was able to load the "Glooko" software into the NX008HD8G (marketed by Walmart as a knockoff of the Google Nexus Android tablet). Using the somewhat overpriced cable from Glooko, in one minute I was able to download over 300 meter readings; and in another minute, to email myself the readings in csv format. So far, so good.UPDATE: Last week I was able to download hundreds of data items successfully as described above. Today - 7 days Iater - I went to download further data, accumulated in the meantime, and unlike the first time the software and the meter cannot sync with the meter, and no data is forthcoming.UPDATE: Caveat Emptor

Works as described but does not do much
Let me start by saying if you are purchasing this item just to get your readings on paper or email from an IR type meter like the Accu-check nano meter like I own it works. But to me it is just a history of where I have been over time. Which to me gives me nothing. Lets face it your endocrinologist can do that with any meter in their office. However if you are testing to see how a specific food or meal effects you, You would either have to hook up and down load after the test is complete or down load after each finger prick. And I want to see my results now. So I prefer my smart phone and the Android app My Diabetes. At a quick glance I can see where I am at any moment, how much active insulin I have in my system. What meds I have taken that day and when. When and how much was my last insulin shot and what type. How many cabs I have eaten, all from the basic log entry screen. Not to mention many different types of graphs so I can see in color where I am at any time and everything can be either shared or emailed. So until they make a blood meter that attaches to my smart phone (cause it is with me always) I will use an Android app and do the manual entry thing

Works, button is hard to press
This worked well enough for me and was able to transfer information to my phone.I gave it four stars because:1: the button is hard to press for me, so I can only imagine how hard it would be for an elderly person2: no iOS support: I realize they sell it as an android accessory, but it connects through the headphone jack which all phones have. I was ticked off that I couldn't transfer data to my iPhone and that I had to buy a separate cable to do that.3: No way to prevent data from being uploaded to the cloud -- sorry, don't trust companies or government to believe that they don't look at my data. What I did like was that the cable is just the right length and it came with an adapter for my ReliON meter. So far I've synced weekly since I got it and the battery seems to be holding up.Will update as time goes by...

Not up to speed.
Defective from the beginning. Apparently, there was an issue with the manufacturing process. This device was dead on arrival. I had to go to a local battery and purchase another cr2032 battery and then it functioned. It continued to use cr 2032 batteries. Eventually, there was an email explaining there were device issues from the company and a electronic gift card for 5.00 on amazon and they would be sending out another device. After that, there was no further communication from the company as to the status. I just put the metersync cable up. I didn't feel like having to spend $3-4.00 per week to use it.Well, one month and a half later. Another device finally shows up unannounced in the mail with a return mail envelope for the old device. I will be returning both as I simply do not have the time to be a beta tester nor am I willing to take a chance on a device for this price that should have worked out the front will to begin with. Some one in quality control was obviously asleep at the wheel here. I

Don't count on support
I checked with Glooko before ordering this cable to be sure it would work with my Samsung Galaxy tablet. It only took them 2 days to respond to tell me it would. I ordered the cable and received it very quickly from Amazon. I could not make it work with either my Relion Prime or Confirm meters. Instructions are horrible. They tell you that they cannot garranty how long it will be before you hear back from their support people. They are right. It has been about 3 weeks since I sent an e mail for help and I haven't heard back from them yet. It is a shame because I was very excited to see all of the wonderful things that the Glooko app could do to help me control my diabetes. I sent it back and, as always, Amazon was great about giving me a refund. To bad Glooko doesn't treat their customers the way Amazon does.

Finally, the future of diabetes management is here
I was very, very hesitant to purchase this item after reading all the bad reviews about this cable. While it seems most people love the app, many people had issues with the cable for Android. I was going to wait for the new IOS bluetooth version coming out, but it seems to be delayed more and more, so I just figured I'd give it a try.So far, it's worked flawlessly every time I've synced it to my HTC One (first generation)! I love this thing! It's grabbing all of my numbers from my Walmart Reli-On Prime meter and now I can view my numbers for the past few months in a beautiful, cloud based app so that they're easily available for me and my doctor.

Works ok
The meter was hard to sync at first. The fact it only syncs with a phone is not really that great. But if you have a device you need to get the information from this is the product.
