Face coating scratched when scribing off a fresh sharp cut, but base metal ok. Good enough, just ease an edge before you drag it across. Rod too shiny to see graduations, but I do metric work anyways, so I bring my own measuring tool

Marking are hard to read

The scribing pin should have been inserted from the other side of the rod so it is nearly impossible too adjust and tighten the screw once you've placed it on your work surface to calibrate your mark!It's backwards!!!The tightening bolt head can also easily get in the way with the way (drag on a work surface) - again, because the pin is inserted from the wrong side of the rod.Also, the tightening bolt head could have been much larger for easier tightening. You do not always have an Allen wrench in your hand! The tightening bolt head is small and it is not textured/knurled to give a better grip.I.e. - difficult to use! Would not buy again.

I used to have one of these long ago. Couldn't find it anywhere local so I finally found it on here. Great for scribing pans etc. The only thing I thought was different was the tip. I remember it being carbide tip but it looks to be something else now.... Not sure if it will get dull quicker or not but time will tell.

I did find the tool easy to see the indicator marks. That’s a very important part on this type of tool. One more thing the screw used to keel the make in place was also sub par! You had to use an Allen wrench to keep in locked in place. Poor design

Works great but if you are working with steel you will need a harder tip. Which is easy enough. Small drill bit with a sharpened end does nicely
