Good product, great quality at a reasonable price price
Greetings to all,I needed to add a couple of snaps to be able to keep an inside door screen open when the screen was not in use. I've used similar kits before so my prior experience with installing snaps helped make the installation of these snaps even easier. I recommend this kit as it does what it's intended to do at a modest price with no sacrifice in quality.I would, however, like to make a few suggestions to you, dear reader, with regard to the installation - especially if you're a first-time user/novice:1. Make sure you have a good, full-size hammer (not a small or miniature one as it will not do the job).2. Make sure you're reasonably adept at using said hammer (i.e. reasonably good hand strength, hand-to-eye coordination, etc.). Your fingers and your nerves will be the better for it.3. I recommend pre-measuring carefully before installing the snaps. As the old adage goes...measure twice, cut once (I tend to measure way more than twice to accommodate my innate go-too-fast tendencies).4. I recommend marking the material with a marker once you're sure of where you want to install the snaps and then piercing the matierial carefully (a sharp, narrow awl helps with this) to create a small hole through which to place the shank (stud) of the snap - this helps keep it in position whilst you're using the hammer to secure the snap to the material.5. Lastly, but by no means least, make sure you have a solid substrate upon which to work - like a cement cinder block or stone of some sort that's firmly in place as you'll need to give these (and any snap like these) a few good firm taps/whacks with your hammer and having a solid foundation to work on is key to success - again, your fingers, your nerves (and your significant other if you have one) will be thankful. One last thing - as the old joke goes... when all else fails, follow the directions (😉). But joking aside, as with all things - it's wise to thoroughly read AND COMPREHEND the directions FIRST, BEFORE YOU BEGIN. This last point I cannot sress enough.I highly recommend this product.I hope this review was found to be helpful.

Good tool, decent snaps
It seems with this type of snap you're looking at 50c to $2.00 per snap set, with the cheaper ones having all kinds of crappy reviews. I bought these ones as a middle of the road choice, so here are my thoughts:Screws: I was screwing these into predrilled holes in steel members, and I have to say I wish America would one day adopt a square (robertson) or hex (allen) drive standard for screws, because I stripped several of the heads out of the screws. Having said that, for cross drive (phillips) screws, they are pretty good quality.Canvas Installation tool: I only have done one so far, but it worked perfectly. Not a lot to say other than the tool works like you'd expect it to, and it really doesn't take a genius to figure out how to work it.Snaps once installed: I did a test snap and then I fastened and unfastened it a few dozen times and it doesn't seem to have lost any holding strength. The holding strength on these is... it's okay. I am using them to fasten an awning to a trailer and I'll admit I'm not 100% sure they'll be strong enough, but I think in any application where they will be shear loaded, they're unlikely to come undone easily.

Great with a vise. Lousy with a hammer.
Using the tool provided with a hammer is a bit ugly but line that up in a vise and you get a good press every time. If you're doing a lot of snaps, a little duct tape can hold the set and the bed on the vise to simplify starting each snap. Gotta have things lined up for it to work.

Cool tool
I bought this to install snaps on a 1/2 helmet. I wanted to add a visor to it and needed snaps. It worked like a charm and now I have a first class looking helmet with a visor protecting me from the florida sun.

They would be better for sheet metal
Used this to repair a safari top on my Jeep. The self tapping screws are a little soft and do not seem to be appropriate for biting in to the steel of my roll bar. They would be better for sheet metal, wood and probably fiberglass. But, for now they are holding and keeping the top from flapping around in the wind. The tool for setting the snaps in place works well and it was easy to get the snaps in place on the canvas top. If the screws were of a stronger grade I would have easily given it 4 stars.

Got the job done
A little difficult to use on a canvas that is on a boat or golf cart but it can be done. A fairly large piece of metal for a backing plate is advisable to hammer against.

great quality. very hard to install
great quality, but it is really hard to hammer these in.you need to be a god to hammer them in (the 2 items under the pointy item in the picture LOL)trust me, i know "Him" quite well and only "He" could make these go in.but dont buy the crappy other option...

Works Great
The snap fastener worked really well for me. This was the first time I had tried to install a snap and this snap fastener worked. The only thing I would add to the instructions is to use a piece of wood under the new snap head when using the punch like tool so you don't damage the surface you have placed the new snap on. when you

I used this kit to fix a changing pad to a dresser (instead of using a nail as recommended). Worked perfectly well, it is very solid and the pad can be removed for cleaning. I live in Canada and the kit arrived very quickly. Thank you.
