AUTO-VOX Solar Wireless Reversing Camera Kit: 1-Min DIY Install, 5" 1080P

The others were fitted on our motor homes, worked well, rarely needed charging and were reliable. The monitor powers via the cigarette lighter connection and comes on when you start the engine or activate it via button the lighter connector. We selected this one as it's magnetic and so easily be moved from one vehicle to another. Very useful if you have multiple vehicles, or only need a reversing camera for specific trips. It avoids the expense of paying a garage or auto electrician to fit one permanently, or breaking into the wiring loom for a DIY fix if you aren't confident. It sticks like cement to the car - no fear of it coming loose. No worries about fixing to a long unit either, range is excellent. Partner walked several houses away and round the corner and the picture never wavered. Be aware it's not the prettiest unit aesthetically, and quite large, so check dimensions if your car is small. An improvement might be to add extra connectivity - USB as well as/instead of 12v cigarette lighter Also, as so many of these cameras are fitted to cameras or motor homes an option in WHITE would be great if materials permit.

I purchased this Autovox Magnetic Solar Wireless Reversing Camera to upgrade from a previous model from the same manufacturer which I have had for the last three years. This model is magnetic and allowed very quick fitting above the bike rack on the rear of my motorhome. This allows an improved high-level view of the area to the rear of the vehicle, which I found particularly useful when changing lanes in heavy traffic on a recent trip as well as the usual reversing into camping spots. The camera comes in a hard case with two mounting plates and screws, one flat and the other slightly angled giving plenty of options for adjusting the view (the camera itself also rotates to adjust as needed) In my case I mounted the flat plate then attached the magnetic camera and secured with the security screw. This will allow me to dismount for winter storage which I find very useful, it also allows quick dismount and fitting on another vehicle if needed, adding to its utility. The video monitor was also a very quick plug and play install and once powered on connected immediately with the camera, giving an excellent clear image, at this stage I was able to adjust camera up/down to align distance lines as needed for my motorhome. The monitor has two time settings: 120 seconds and 240 seconds which once activated gives you plenty of time to complete your reversing manoeuvre. As mentioned above I also found it useful when in heavy traffic and changing lanes to make sure no one was in my blind spot and also keep a general eye on traffic behind. My motorhome length of 7.2 meters, signal reception is excellent. I fully charged with USB before mounting, and the inbuilt solar panel on top of the camera body is well exposed to light, so should keep the camera charge topped up. (I will update review at the end of the season as to observed battery life.) Overall I am very happy with this purchase, delivery was fast, fitting was quick and easy and the quality of image is very good.

I bought this camera as I was looking for an upgrade to an existing reversing camera setup. Out of the box the camera is really quick and clean to set up; it pairs instantly and the video quality is extremely good, crisp and clear. My previous camera was somewhat pixelated but this is not at all. Be aware that the actual camera module is relatively large so depending on the design of the rear of your vehicle it may or may not "blend in" well, but the magnet is very strong and I have no worries about it coming off accidentally. The control at the drivers' end is very easy: there is a button to press on the cigar lighter adaptor which activates the screen (or you can press a button on the screen itself) for a set period of time. If I was to criticize anything it would be that it would be good for the drivers' end to be powered by USB instead of a 12v outlet: this way it would be easy to hard wire in with one of the many available dashcam hardwire kits - and the ability to have a remote trigger button (for example, to mount in a dash blank or on the steering wheel) would also be brilliant. But these are by no means deal breakers. All in all a very good choice for a reversing camera, particularly if your vehicle does not suit a wired camera for whatever reason.

I like it. This is a great upgrade from Auto-Vox. Having a magnetic camera eliminates the risk of theft. Also transferring to another angle on the vehicle or even another vehicle altogether is really easy. There's no need for tools to swap it out & can be stored with the receiver screen in the carry case out of sight elsewhere. More than enough transmission range for most cars, vans & wagons ect. Good so far. Like the previous Auto-Vox rear cameras this doesn't need wiring through the vehicle.

This was extremely easy to set up and fit. The system works very well and provides an excellent view. The simplicity of its functionality is a major plus; there are no complicated options, not a huge menu and it does what’s required. With a magnetic camera, the risk of theft, when it is parked, is always present but I just put mine in the car and put it on each time I go out. It’s so simple. I haven’t used it much so far so cannot comment on the battery life. So far it seems to be good value for money when you think of the cost of professional fitting of a permanent installation. Additional Information: I have now tested it at nigh Obviously it is not exceeding bright but it provides more than adequate lighting to be able to reverse in darkness.

This was super easy to fit to our campervan - just plug in the camera and attach the camera directly to one of the rear doors of the van (after attaching the small antenna to the screen and the larger one to the camera). No need to meddle with the van electrics or reverse light. The magnet is really strong so the camera stayed in place despite some quite bumpy roads. A metal plate is provided in the kit in case you need it. The quality is really good. The camera mount has a very sticky coating, so I had no problem attaching it to a textured dashboard. The 12v charging socket has a USB-A socket integrated into it. The carry bag is a really neat addition and helps protect the camera when not in use (it makes sense to remove the camera from the van when not in use to prevent theft). The screen has a 120s/240s/always on setting so you can decide how long to keep the screen on. I changed it to the the permanent setting for a continuous rear view, and the battery still seemed to still be fully charged after 30mins of driving and there were no camera glitches in this time. When I put the camera away after my drive, I forgot to turn it off - but to my pleasant surprise the camera was still showing full charge when set it up the next day. Great little unit if you want a really easy install and don't feel comfortable with vehicle electrics. A usb cable is provided so you can keep the camera battery topped up when not used for a while.

This was a good product until it wasnt. The camera stopped working after 8 weeks and although the camera was clear, and the connection between the screen and camera was faultless it never really seemed to charge well using the solar element. I do understand that living in Scotland, you are never going to fully benefit from sunlight such as other countries, and therefore anything solar is never particularly great I was resigned to the fact that I would manually charge which wasnt a huge issue. However I didnt expect the unit to stop working after 8 weeks, and slightly disappointed that when I need the camera most which is during dark nights when I'm parking, I have been plunged into darkness. In its defence I would say that the camera was crystal clear and was great when it worked so don't want to be too negative. However it's just disappointing that it didn't last longer as its a hassle and time consuming to go through the process of contacting amazon, returning the product and then having to search for another product.

I’ve been using an Auto-Vox wireless camera for a couple of years, and this upgrade is excellent. The claim of 1-second install is accurate – I plugged in the monitor screen and the camera magnetically clamped immediately onto my campervan. Instant success. No wiring, no drilling. No screws. Excellent. It comes supplied with two metal plate options (one flat and one angled) if you need to install the camera onto non-metallic surfaces, but I didn’t need those. The ease of the magnetic install is a big advantage for me as it means I can reposition the camera and use on other vehicles. The supplied storage bag is excellent for keeping everything safe when not in use. The 5-inch screen is perfect for my needs, and the clear image is superb. There is a small sun hood on the screen which will help in bright sunlight. The infrared night mode is very useful giving clear visibility in all light levels. The battery life on my previous model was good, and this new camera has solar cells to charge the battery so I don’t expect I will need to use the USB charging cable very often. The 18-month warranty is a nice addition. I’m very pleased with this camera. Highly recommended.

I was honestly a bit skeptical at first, but this backup camera blew me away. Installation was exactly as advertised—took me barely a minute to get it on my truck. No wires, no drilling, no stress. Just stuck it on, turned it on, and it worked right away. The base is really strong, and it hasn’t moved at all even after a few long drives. The 1080P monitor is super clear, even at night. I was surprised how far the signal reaches—I’ve used it on my truck and the video feed stayed stable the whole time. The solar charging is a great touch since I don’t have to worry about running out of battery. It comes with a storage bag too, which is perfect for when I want to switch vehicles or store it safely. Overall, this is easily one of the best purchases I’ve made in a while. It made backing up so much easier and safer. Highly recommend for anyone who needs a reliable, portable backup camera!!!!

This is the second camera I’ve purchased from Auto-Vox for towing my camper. My previous camera worked well (and still does), but it wasn’t designed to be mounted behind a tow vehicle. As a result, I was pushing it beyond its intended use. That led to occasional buffering and compression artifacts on the display. This new model solves all of those issues—and then some. Installation is a breeze. You mount the included plate, and the camera snaps onto it magnetically. The magnets are extremely strong, but for added security, you can use the included socket head cap screw to lock it in place. There's a USB-C charging port under a waterproof cover and a simple on/off switch beside it, accessible from the bottom of the camera. I charged it once via USB at the start and haven’t needed to since. The screen is excellent and comes with a 6-foot cable that plugs into your car’s 12V socket. Once powered, it automatically wakes the camera and starts the live feed. The image has a slight fisheye effect, which actually helps by widening the field of view behind the trailer. The display allows you to adjust brightness, guide lines, image orientation, and screen timeout settings. By default, the screen is set to turn off the camera after about two minutes, but I immediately changed that to stay on continuously—I use it as a rear-view camera, not just a backup cam. The manual warns that this mode may drain the battery faster, but in my experience, that hasn’t been an issue. During my longest test—a four-hour daytime drive—the battery still showed 3 out of 4 bars. Because it’s solar-powered, it’s constantly recharging. In fact, mine even showed it was charging indoors under regular lighting. The manual claims it can operate for 45 days without solar, though that seems optimistic. Still, the next time I used it, it was fully charged and ready to go. One feature I’d like to see is an option to hardwire the camera, but Auto-Vox offers other models for that purpose. The benefit of this one is portability—if your camper goes into storage, you can remove the camera in under 30 seconds for safekeeping. In conclusion, this camera is an excellent value. It delivers a clear, stable image from the back of my trailer (40–50 feet away) to the display in my vehicle, with no noticeable interference. I’m very satisfied with this purchase.
