I use many Proraso shaving products after reverting back to double edge razor (fed up with multi-blade gimmics at ridiculous blade refill cost). If u decide to whip out your (or your dad's) old Gillette (made in USA) double edge razor device (Highly recommend cleaning, adjusting, lubricating, & sterilizing by running through dishwasher sanitize cycle - do this first then other suggestions listed) Using Proraso products (this product - balm aftershave lotion, also use their refreshing clear after shave, their pre-shave conditioner and finally their tube shaving creams which provides a creamy rich lubricating foam and their regular soap type shaving cream tub - some are lightly scented some are for sensitive skin and some are enriched with protective and skin nourishing ingredients - used selectively for different weather and skin conditions - they help tremendously to avoid razor burn, dry or irritated facial conditions - like winter and a heavier beard after several days of beard growth. Their formulas are non irritating, and non-allergetic. Makes shaving with a really sharp blade - e,g, Feather Brand - easier and safer (less of a chance for razor burn, rash, dry skin). Used Properly your Face after a nice close double edge shave and Proraso Products is as soft & smooth as a baby's bottom.

I'd been using Nivea Sensitive shave balm for a lot of years. Excellent product... until they changed the formulation recently. The new stuff has a decidedly greasy feel and that led me to search for a decent replacement. I'd known about Proraso's balm but never tried it until now. I have to say that, while it is more expensive than Nivea's balm, I also think it is better. It has a scent but it is pleasant and very light. Since I bought this, I contacted Nivea who told me they were switching back to the old formula because of the complaints they'd received. I may try switching back to Nivea when this Proraso runs out. Or not. This stuff is very nice, not greasy, has a great feel and scent. If they really do bring back the old Nivea balm formula, I may simply switch back because it is way cheaper than the Proraso. That's the only down side I see for it. Proraso is otherwise a really fantastic shave balm. UPDATE: Nivea sent me coupons for 3 free bottles of their revised formula, which they claim is the old, non-greasy formula. Can confirm the replacement balm is like the old formula. Have to shout out to Nivea customer service for taking their customer's concerns seriously. Thank you, Nivea, for the replacements. I am still liking the Proraso balm very much but am down to the last of it. I'll use that up and switch back to Nivea. If the old Nivea doesn't work out, I have to say I'd switch permanently to Proraso.

This lotion feels incredible. it’s not too thick or thin of a solution. The scent is very subtle which is a big bonus that it’s not overpowering. 10/10 would order again

It’s fine. I bought this as a replacement for. N*v*a for men soothing, because the chamomile sent was so overwhelming, and very unbecoming of a man in his mid 40s in an office in environment.. All in all, it’s not a lot of bang for the buck. but it does a good job at fixing some very glaring problems and some similar yet less expensive soothing post shave balms Proraso blue definitely has some pros and cons which I’m happy to tell you about Pro: 1. a pleasant masculine sent that is not overwhelming and does not seek to be the star of the show. (I would actually prefer this better if it were completely unscented, but the fact that the scent is so light is a welcome change.) It does what it is supposed to do. It brings soothing post shave without being greasy. Con: 1. it is a little more viscous coming out of the bottle meaning it does not spread as far as aftershave balms with a slightly more watery consistency to the lotion. That being said, this is a small con and the lotion itself is still not greasy, which is also welcome. 2. It is twice the price of what I was using before, however, I think at least for now I’m willing to pay a little more to not be overwhelmed with the scent of chamomile and to have something a little darker and less aggressive smelling.

Poraso is a very good reputable brand for quality shaving products for men. Any of their after shave balms soothe and cool razor burn and irritation after shaving and keep your skin looking and feeling great. I only use Poraso mens shaving products. Its a must for me.

I have never found anything else that has the consistency and feel of this lotion. It is neither liquid nor cream but some magical state of matter in between. The smell is pleasant but I wasn't sold on it at first. After using it a while I am hooked. I was rotating with another after shave (lotion type) that offered SPF. But I like this so much now that I use only this and I'm rolling the dice on skin cancer. If that's not an endorsement, I don't know what is.

Subtle and pleasant

While I appreciate the Aloe and vitamin E, I feel that this balm really needs panthenol and maybe some 2% niacinamide to be complete. It does soothes the skin but it is not as hydrating as Nivea and is not anywhere near as good as the Art of Shaving balm. On the good side, a little goes a long way and it will last a long time so it is not a bad investment if budged is a concern.

This is a great addition to Proraso's shaving system. I have sensitive skin on my neck. This provides a very cool soothing treatment after shaving and eliminates razor burn. So far the best that I have tried. Should be used with the Proraso pre-shave treatment and the shaving soap with a badger hair brush for full effect.
