A Personal Development Classic
What This Book Will Teach You: Success is not an Accident is brimming with universal success principles that apply to every area of your life - finances, careers, parenting, relationships, spirituality, health, etc... It is organized around seven lessons which take you through the path to success. Tommy Newberry teaches like an experienced coach. He explains the basics, gives you lots of practice, and suggests pointers to use as you engage in the game of life. This coach wants you to win. He's on your side and he holds nothing back as he shares with you a practical pep talk for the game of life. Why I Like It: There is a lot to like about Success is not an Accident. I'm limiting my list to three items that set this book apart from others in the genre.1. Tommy Newberry writes as a Christian to Christians. He takes biblical principles and puts them to work in our modern world. Personally, when I was looking for a book on success, there was little out there that didn't, at some point, disagree with or disregard God and His teachings. Success is not an Accident is a personal development classic for Christians.2. Success is not an Accident is not merely a "feel good" book - the kind of book you read when you need positive motivation. It reads like a manual with a workbook. You learn the lessons. You apply the lessons. There is no sitting in the back row hoping that the teacher doesn't call on you. Tommy Newberry compels you to take action.3. Success is not an Accident applies itself equally well with individuals or groups. If you are a "private" person, you can read the book, perform the exercises, and change your life. If you enjoy the benefits of a group study, you can ask your friends to join you on the journey to success. Newberry even provides group discussion questions for you.

Be an Unstoppable Force for Good
"You can be a helpless victim, or you can be a powerful human being who makes an impact on the world." ~ Tommy NewberryHardly anyone wants to live a mediocre life. If you want to live an extraordinary life then this book might be for you. The author spends some time explaining that if you are a Christian, God wants you to be successful. This goes against a poverty/scarcity mentality but it is not quite prosperity gospel. Tommy Newberry basically says that thinking small does not serve the world. He wants you to be an unstoppable force for good. The book has an encouraging tone and most of the time the author speaks the truth with love. In order to be happy and successful the author believes you must write down goals and have a mission statement. He effectively helps you write both. Visualization, goal maps (vision boards) and subconscious programming are also discussed. To be honest this book makes the best case for writing down goals that I've ever read. After reading this book you will realize that you have to read your goals once a day at least. Some of the ideas in this book will make you leave your comfort zone. But if you are ready to create your life the seven lessons in this book will help you tremendously. The time management strategies alone are worth the price of the book.~The Rebecca Review

Fantastic resource
I have a Masters' degree in Education Administration. During the course of study, I amassed a library full of Success books -- not all about Education. This book would have taken the place of half of them. Succinct, demonstrative, questioning, and real, if you want to redefine yourself and your lifestyle, use this resource. It's set up in seven "lessons", each one giving you a "coach's session" on defining and living success in your life:Lesson 1: Choose success (helps you define success, see yourself as successful, and gets you emotionally clear to prepare for it)Lesson 2: Choose what you want to become (assists you with getting straight about what you REALLY want from your life, and helps you plot how to get there). This also guides you in writing a personal mission statement, and includes a list of positive qualities to help you rewrite yourself and your ideals.Lesson 3: Choose to write down compelling goals (assists you in good goal construction, and charting their attainment). It also covers set-backs, roadblocks, eight rules for writing effective goals, and helpful tips.Lesson 4: Choose to invest your time wisely (Helps you take stock of the timeliness of the goals you have chosen and their steps). It is organized into 21 Rapid Time Savers.Lesson 5: Choose to get out of your own way (assists in reprogramming your expressive language patterns, thinking patterns, and conversational patterns)Lesson 6: Choose positive visualization (defines two types of visualization [outcome and process] and assists you to know when and how to use both)Lesson 7: Choose a high-energy lifestyle (covers nutrition, purpose, activities, and living standards). The higher your energy, the quicker and more resources and success will come to you.I am glad for the book being in my collection now; it is definitely helping me reach my goals!

CLARITY of SUCCESS, UNDERSTANDING & KNOWING HOW TO ACHIEVE
First of all I chose this book because it is my assignment for the book of the month with my group. What I liked about this book was just about everything. I liked the way it was so, clearly written. Also, it was my timing to read this book. It was if it was written just for me. It gave me clarity and understanding myself and knowing what I really wanted in my life and how to achieve it.I am going to read the book again, and again and get these steps written in this book internalized. That I know what I want and how to achieve it and that I can help someone else that was struggling like I was.i STARTED this book and could not put it down until I finished it. I so, enjoyed and learned from this book.I recommend this book to anyone that does not know and understand the word, "Success", for them. The one that is so, struggling like I was to know what I wanted in life and not know how to even start to know how to achieve it. Like this book so, very well brakes down in steps and description (s) to understand exactly.I haven't found anything I did not like.

Good motivational book which contains far too much preaching to be easy reading
Good motivational book that will reinforce a new perspective on effort and responsibility for your own success, but I didn't know the author beforehand and the description didn't mention once just how much preaching about God was in it.

I really wish I could have given this 0 stars
All I can say is that, contrary to most of the rave reviews, I'm glad I downloaded this when it was on offer for free. Even then, I feel it was overpriced. In spite of the continual god bothering in the first couple of chapters, I did persevere in case there was anything useful. There wasn't and I gave up. The author tells us there was no magic solution for success, and then without any sense of irony goes on to tell us that in order to success we do indeed need to rely on a magical sky fairy. The core message seems to be "pray to God, do all the work yourself, then thank God afterwards". If you're the kind of person who when they feel ill, prays to your god, then goes to the doctor, gets cured and afterwards thanks your god for curing you - this might be the book for you. For me, the benefit of the time I spent on this book was about the same as the benefit of praying to the author's non-existent god. Zero.
