Dry Rot is the deterioration of wood caused by microscopic fungi feeding on the resins which bond the wood fibers together, leaving the fibers loose to crumble away. Smith's Original Clear Penetrating Epoxy Sealer (CPES) restores the wood by penetrating in and rebinding the wood fibers together, resolidifying it and impregnating the wood with epoxy resin so that it will be impervious to ever rotting again. Our revolutionary sealer restores dry rotted wood without the need to replace, and preserves new wood so that it will never rot. No other product comes close to the ability of Smith's CPES to penetrate and saturate wood. It is also an excellent primer, laminating the first coat of paint or varnish down to the now preserved wood. The following are the six basic steps to restoring rotted wood: 1) Remove any old coatings, and dry the wood. 2) Clean off any very crumbly material. 3) Saturate the wood with Smith's Clear Penetrating Epoxy Sealer, applying until it stops soaking in and a thin sheen is acheived. 4) Once the solvents have evaporated (24 - 72 hrs), apply the Filler. 5) After 24 hours, sand Filler to shape. 6) Before painting, apply a light primer coat of the CPES. CPES (Clear Penetrating Epoxy Sealer) and Smith's Epoxy Fill-it are sold on exclusively by TIMBERCRAFT.
