Delivered Secondhand
Bought this thinking I was buying a new book, as advertised, and got it already highlighted by someone else. Disappointing I must say.

Worth the Read--even if you have Fiction First Aid
I love Raymond Obstfeld's books. Yes, there are repeated sections from his other book--and if you can only get one, get Fiction First Aid--but I did learn a lot about scene-writing. Some tidbits were absolutely draft-altering for me. Worth the read.

Every writer should own this
This book is just what the doctor ordered. It focused on setting, point of view, how to structure a scene, etc. I loved how the author gave examples from books and movies to illustrate various aspects of writing. This is a good book for novice writers and those writers who are looking to improve their writing skills.

Taught me more about writing than 12 grades worth of English classes. Very useful for any aspiring writer.

Excellent and Practical Guide
This is a very detailed and specific guide to each of the elements necessary to craft readable scenes. The author uses many examples from current fiction to illustrate each point in several ways. He also addresses both literary and commercial fiction, comedy writing. crafting sex scenes, openings vs. payoffs, etc. One of the best guides I've come across that details practical structuring of the basic building block of a novel. Highly recommended.
