KAI5120 Thread Snips

I really expected better with this brand. I bought the 10” shears and they are incredible. The first pair of the snips didn’t cut. I returned them and got the second pair. They cut, but are temperamental and you have to hold them just right or they don’t ship the thread. And they don’t cut real well, but rather almost tears the thread. I would not buy these again.

I'm a weaver and a current project is a tufted (Turkish knot) rug. These snips work absolutely perfectly. I'm half way through (approximately 32,000 knots, each one cut from the yarn as I go). The snips sit perfectly in my hand without slowing down a 10+ knots per minute pace. This purchase is a stand by replacement for some earlier Kai snips I inherited from my father and are at least 20 years old and still going strong. Nice to have a back-up that might well outlast me too. Finally finished and after 60,000 cut knots the snips are still going strong.

I have other Kai scissor. 3 pair . Love them.But These are not the quality I expected from Kai. These are only average in quality.

These are not near the quality of my other KAI scissor. Cheaply made blades not sharp. Barely cuts thread...

Let me preface this with I love Kai scissors, they simply can’t be beat. This is why I was so disappointed with these snippers. If you put your thread all the way into these, they may cut your thread on the first or second time. If you are thinking, like I did, that you can use the tips to cut your thread in small spaces, or close to your fabric like they are meant to do, these are not for you.

Nippers will not cut thread unless you have a lot of pressure on it.

Although these snippers are made by a very well known Japanese company (Kai), the snippers were disappointing. It is not as sharp as expected and the tips are thick and not quite as sharp as I expected. Having the points sharp and thin help to get under the stitches easier.

Hate it. Really awful. All the other reviews are spot on. I should have read them.
