Glad I Have One
Great to have it! I heated water to boiling in about 2+ hours. Florida sun is strong, especially now in early May. I am prepared for a cup of coffee and then some. It is the just- in-case item to have on hand and not waste propane or other fuel sources whenever possible.

Solar Water Heater – fairly well-made, heats water up above 170!
I got this to sterilize and heat water on my boat without having to use any of my propane and this did not disappoint! Although it does take a little over 45 minutes or so to heat up to about 170°F I’m still at extremely impressed and satisfied With it, considering this was done on a fairly cool 86° day.On a hot summer day I don’t doubt that this will take it to the boiling point. The plastic around it feels a little flimsy and folding the metal stand behind it can be a little awkward, but still worth it as long as I’m careful it should last its lifetime. But the inside tube and main compartment is made of real and thick glass.Love the thermometer right on the lid so you know the temp! When I first opened it I noticed a small cut on the inside of the rubber seal on the cap, but after reading the instructions, this little slit is supposed to be there so that it relieves pressure so don’t freak out and think that it’s damaged. The handle/stand is very convenient for carrying it around. The plastic wings that contain the reflective surface inside has magnets on the tips so that it stays closed when stored. Overall, very happy with the quality of this solar water heater, definitely recommend for the off grid lifestyle!

Hot enough to heat but not boil
I've tried it and timed it twice under two different conditions. After 2 hours it was 143 degrees. Another 30 minutes and the temp stayed the same. I will try it again in full sunlight one more time. 143 is hot enough to heat your Mountain House Meals, but I suspect it will not get hot enough to boil / sterilize water. So if you have a clean water source ie bottled or filtered water. This will heat it up fine but it has not gotten near 212 degrees so far

A good way to heat water in a power outage or other type emergency but it's not fast
It uses the sun to heat water over time. It takes a couple of hours in good direct sunlight to get the water to boil (mine is the large one) but if you use it with pre-purified water just to reheat a freeze dried meal you can get it ho enough in 40-60 minutes. Still not fast but if you have no other power source to cook with, this will be very useful. As a longer term water purifier it is a tough call. It is glass and that can break. It does take quite some time in direct sunlight to boil water and to purify water by boiling it needs to boil at 212 degrees for at least one full minute, longer if the water is cloudy, and then with the large model you will only have 1` quart of purified water which is not a lot, especially in an emergency situation where you and your family/friends may need several gallons a day.

It works!
I was amazed at how well this heats up water. I had to do a trial run in the winter months so the sun was not that powerful and it was only a partially sunny day. I was amazed that after 3 hours the water had heated up to over 100 degrees. I can't wait to try it in more favorable conditions.

Heats water, but not very fast and not very much
The idea is good, but the execution wasn't great. Definitely not a lifesaving device. Quite bulky for the amount of water.
