Colocasia is rich in iron and so also in its stems. Colocasia stems which are organically grown are very popular in Kerala and are used to make gravy. It is an excellent source of fibre, Vitamins, potassium, magnesium, and folic acid. It is known as Chembu Thand in Kerala. It is used to make curries along with some seasoning. It is a powerhouse of nutrition.
