Scratch resistant is amazing
Very grateful quality and the shine so pretty it’s so pretty. There’s not much to say that they work like any other fork and spoon but very true about it being scratch resistant

Finish is more rugged looking in person, not my style.
I've always been fond of distinctive tableware & I enjoy putting together a beautiful place setting. I have more than a few different styles of china/dishes and that goes for drinkware & flatware as well. My grandmother used to keep her best china, crystal, silver, stowed away & only brought it out for use on special occasions. Once my mother inherited it, she had a different philosophy, if you like it, use it, because it'll be no good to you once you're gone. I wholeheartedly agree!I liked the look of this Oneida Hartwell pattern, I have other Oneida pieces & recognize it as a quality brand, so I ordered it. Upon seeing the pieces in person, I was a bit disappointed. I know it states "tumbled" in the description however it's much more so in person than represented in the pictures. The online pics show it with a muted shine, that's not what I see. I've attached several pics. It looks just plan used & abused in my opinion. One of my favorite parts of flatware is the spotless shine that eminates from the knife blade, spoon bowl or tines of the fork. There's none of that with this pattern. Perhaps that's something you might actually like, no worries about fingermarks or smudges as this pattern, to me, is the equivalent of acid washed jeans.Just for comparison, I've added a pic of a knife from this set next to a knife from a Cambridge set I own (Oneida & Cambridge are sister companies) so you can see the difference in shine.Hartwell does have a decent weight to it. It's a service for 8, which is nice, especially if you entertain or have a large family. They've also included 1 Serving Spoon & 1 pierced Serving Spoon, a handy bonus. As I mentioned, it's more rugged looking in person than it shows online. If that's a style you like, this would be a great fit for you, however, it's just not for me. Otherwise, craftmanship is there & also the Oneida Lifetime Warranty.

I really like this flatware
I find it interesting that I've finally reached the point in life where I like to have a nice set of silverware for entertaining guests. This ended up being the set I went with. While it's not the fanciest in the world, I like the look and feel of it. You get service for 8 plus serving spoons so this set will handle most dinner parties. The tumbled finish gives the appearance of having seen use for years without the damage that would come with that. I think it have a warm appearance. Cleans up nicely in the sink or dishwasher. Overall, highly recommended flatware.

Mottled look… Way too vintage look…
While clearly understood the description of vintage look, I failed to understand that the look was not just the style, but also the metal, at a level that makes the set look to old, heavily used, and not clean. Perhaps it is my fault, but I want to make you aware by studying my picture. If this is the look that you like, the thickness and other qualities are very good, worthy of a 5 star rating, however, I could not like or accept the flat, spotty, heavily used, old look. The best way to describe the set is MOTTLED!Oneida is an excellent company and the quality is definitely there, but the look may be reserved to those few that accept the style.

High Quality Set With An Antique Tumbled Finish
I'll be the first to admit that when I first ordered this silverware set I missed the note about it being a tumbled finish. That's on me, though, not the silverware. With that said, the silverware has a pewter look to it, so it really feels like it is antique. I am including a picture of the Oneida silverware next to one of my old forks so that you can compare the finishes. The pieces themselves are solid. They have a heavier feel to them than I expected without being so heavy that they are cumbersome. And unlike actual antique silverware, you have the modern convenience with this set of being able to run them through the dishwasher. They wash up beautifully and I because of the tumbled finish you don't have to worry about water spots.I will say that the pieces feel smaller than other silverware sets I have owned. The two different size spoons really don't differ that much from each other, nor do the two sizes of forks. I'm ok with that, because it just doubles the number of useable pieces I have for any given meal. With three kids, our silverware has a tendency to disappear for a bit into the kids' rooms, so it's nice to have such a large set!Overall, this is a great set -- if you like the finish then you will be very pleased with this silverware.

Well made with versatile design
This set of flatware has a pewter-like finish and a simple design that makes it versatile to use for various occasions.I really liked the design of the box that it came in because it was well-thought-out and sturdy.Because it was so well boxed with the logo on the top, it would make a nice wedding or housewarming gift.

Old and worn look, not vintage
The media could not be loaded. OK, Oneida. Not sure what this look is all about, but these are not vintage, and they are not pretty. No other way to put it. These look like they’ve been left out in the dirt and gravel for about 20 years or so. The finish makes them look worn out, pitted and scratched up but they’re not. Granted, they’re definitely Oneida quality and durable, they’re just not nice looking at all. I wouldn’t want to serve dinner guests using these.
