Living with cats is largely a process of negotiation. Each party in the relationship having desires that may not fit well with the other's lifestyle. This is almost certainly a substitute for our human flesh and a display of their deep-seated resentment that any rules should apply to them. Squirt guns, while initially effective, have proven to be more entertaining than aversive. The cats enjoy the game far too much. They also require vigilance and a continual presence in the disputed areas.Enter dual-sided cat tape. It never sleeps. It remains on duty as a neutral observer until touched. Research, some conducted in our own feline lab, has shown that cats do not like things that grab them or stick to them. They have little use or appreciation for adhesive technology. Their fortunate lack of opposable thumbs makes it difficult for them to remove or destroy.These strips adhere strongly and have a long-lasting sticky surface that is an effective prevention for most cats. They have a removable film on each side to aid in application. If you can live with plastic patches on your furniture these mildly aversive dissuaders work well. I've been trying to sway my new kitty from scratching my beloved furniture, the most common piece being my couch. There is a side that really attracts her to stretch against and then proceed to stratch to her heart's content. In addition to trying to redirect this attention to appropriate scratching surfaces, I figured some kind of cover would be helpful. To some things up, it definitely was. This comes in strips that easily adhere to furniture. I find this pretty sturdy as it stays put to the couch. It also provides a thick barrier from my cat's claws and I find she feels less inclined to scratch the area now that she realizes a film is there.I have not tried removing this as of yet so I am not sure what this would do to fabric of the couch by pulling the adhesive side- if it does anything at all.Overall, I am very happy with this product and would recommend it.

In the past I have used carpet tape to deter my cats from scratching furniture, but the stick was so strong that sometimes that would damage the furniture. This does not damage furniture and removes easily with no residue. This is sticky on BOTH sides and is meant to temporarily be applied to furniture until the cat learns not to scratch. You may occasionally have to remind them with a new application. Even though it does pick up hair and lint (it's sticky, of course it is going to do that), it's not a problem as a temporary teaching tool for my cat.

These are great and easy to put on. I honestly hate having to have them, but we have a kitten in the house who is learning.The fact that the pack comes with two different sizes is nice so you're not cutting them to fit. They apply easily and so far appear to be holding up well. Can't wait until my dumb kitty figures this out so I can remove them, though! LOL

This pad works just as advertised. It is very easy to install and the stickiness on the outside is very subtle but enough to do it's job. The pieces are easy to cut to fit as well so no need for exact fit as you can make any adjustments necessary. Great value for the price.
