2x42 in. Belt Sander & 6" Disc Sander Combo, 3.5Amp Bench & 1/2HP Belt Sander for Woodworking, Metalworking & Knife Making, Sharpening

This is a very good sharping system I purchase it to sharper lathe tools works wonderful

I have had this sander for just a few days. Put it to use right away. This machine is identical to many other 2x42 belt sanders out there, parts should interchange. I went with this machine because it was on sale. The sanding disk side is okay. The rest table is not precession but will suffice for my needs. The belt side rest table will have to go at some point. The groves that are in it are not even in height, this makes the table very rough also. I am working on a fix for this. I did try a 36 grit ceramic belt and it fit without the scraping and drag that are a problem with some of the other similar machines. I run a Variable Speed, SCR Voltage Controller on all my tools. I have not had any problems as yet with running this machine on my controller. I can not turn the voltage down as far as I would like. But it slows it down enough for my needs. It will run okay at 75% which is good if I do not put a lot of pressure on it. With a very fine grit belt I can go to 60% which keeps from burning some of the wood I use. The description says it is a 1/2 horse motor, nope it is A 1/3 horse, like most others. This part is a bit disappointing to me as I wanted the larger HP. If it will last for a year I will be happy. As we say, I will update if this machine makes my hobby work easier or if it goes wonky. There are better machines out there, but they cost more. This one checked all my boxes for needs at this time. Disk sander, belt sander, fold down to flat, all in one machine, plus a 2 inch belt. Then the cost was reasonable for the features it has.

Photos suggested this KFMK 10-inch wet sharpener looks well made. With the unit in front of me, I can say all the parts are clean and crisp; the steel base is solid and square all around. Great product.You definitely want a 10-inch wet sharpener (compatible with Tormek and JET parts). 8-inch ones have too much curvature, and often a plastic chassis. I looked at good belt sharpeners, but then you've sunk $170 for just knives and scissors (light duty). You still need a wet wheel to grind tool blades.The wheel grit seems similar to Tormek's spec, about 240. I cannot say how a Tormek stone grader works on it. (This is my first wet sharpener.) After much usage, you'll a JET-style truing tool to flatten the wheel. (The Tormek would not fit; it hooks onto the close tool rest post.)I also got WEN accessory kit for 10in sharpener (42704B). It includes a stone cleaning/grading block (which I didn't use yet).Some reviews say they assembled the machine and the wheel wobbles. The first time I tightened the arbor, I could see some wobble. So I loosen the nut, rotate 30 deg, tighten and recheck. It wobbled less, so I did it again. After rotating and retightening twice, the wheel ran straight.(If yours does not, try swapping or shimming the pressure discs.)

Works good for knife sharpening. Easy belt replacement.

I had the wen version it lasted a month the motor gave out now CS did make it good but the over all build is not ment to last everything is plastic the guide bar is sloppy just very very cheaply made. I payed about the same i think for the fmk it was maybe 20-40$ more but the quality and build difference is night and day. If you cant afford a tormek this little guy is damn close. Ive been sharpening everything i can even the wheel it comes with is higher qaulity. You can achieve a perfect edge on just about anything with practice.

Would be nice if the support bar for sharping was longer.

Good sander. Can use it vertical or horizontal. Adequate power if you don't apply too much pressure.

I thought that Tormek's were way over priced and wanted a cheap version. Out of the box, it looks like a winner. But after using it for a few minutes (literally), the motor stopped and never came back on. Plugged into good clean power? Check. Plugged into another known good power outlet? Check. Let if unplugged for a few minutes? Check. Nothing powered on again. An incredible pain to put back in a box and have to take back to UPS for a return. Support? Forget about it - there's nothing out there for support or even other folks using the same machine (at time of my issue). Save for a Tormek and you'll 1000% see the difference. Although getting jigs for this machine DO work on Tormek (save some money but only on basic jigs).
