Saved me! Thank you
5 stars because it saved me. It's very easy to use. Worked on the first try. My laptop just died and would NOT come on...I keep MOST of my stuff backed up but there were several things I needed from that laptop I did not back up. Thanks to this, I got them! The bad? I mean, it's not horrible as all I needed for this was to retrieve my data... But the read speeds are slow.. Using a brand new Lenovo Windows 11 laptop and this device connected to USB 3.0, I'm only getting 18 to 19 MB/s.I've never had luck with any flash drives or SSD cards going much faster than that. I'm not sure why. On regular external drives I get good speeds like 150 MB/s. I don't know if it's a windows default setting or what that causes this slowness. I do know enough to go to the properties of the drive and change it to "better performance" but that did nothing..The device feels pretty sturdy... although when I put my SSD in, it wouldn't click down securely... (such as shown in one of the videos here. I'm talking about like when you insert it, how it's angled upward slightly... pushing down, there was nothing to click to hold it into place. Probably just me doing something wrong but I did exactly what was demonstrated in the video..it simply did NOT want to stay down. But I was able to close the lid.Once I got everything off the drive I just reformatted it so I now I have 500 gigs storage space I suppose.Hope this helps.

This works very well for a m.2 NVME stick.
I've bought two of these. I have one with a 480GB capacity and one 1TB capacity. Both of them work really well. I like the little LED that indicates power and activity, solid on for power, blinking for activity. I did have to add a additional thermal pad to make the thermal contact from the stick to the cover. I guess some sticks may be thinner than others. One of my sticks is Crucial and the other is a Samsung. I added the same extra pad to both. I think I had to add a 0.5mm thick one. It closes just right. With that, the chips run very cool even when copying large amounts of data for a extended period of time. The enclosure dissipates heat really well. This enclosure has a lot of good things about it. I like the LED, the way it closes and opens, the speed and just the ease of putting a stick in it. Also, the little ball that keeps it closed, it works very well. You have to pull on it a bit to open it. I've yet to have mine open without me pulling on it. It closes tight and stays closed despite me putting a little extra thermal pad inside. This also comes with a neat cable. It has a type C on one end for the enclosure and another type C with a attached adapter to type A in case you don't have a type C to connect with on the computer end. Sometimes it is annoying but I have to use the adapter on some older systems with only type A USB connectors. If you want a small but well made m.2 enclosure, this is a good one. I can't think of anything that would improve it. It just works so well.

awesome device
I finally found an M.2 NVMe SSD Enclosure that I'm completely in love with. It's the FIDECO M.2 NVMe SSD Enclosure that can be had for the crazy price of $14.39 on Amazon.Unlike many M.2 cases at this price, this little pup is FAST. When copying a file from an M.2 to the enclosure with a fast M.2, it generally clocks in at speeds around 600mb/sec (compared to others that can easily be as slow as 32mb/sec). Build-wise, the case is metal, with the door clicking opening up to reveal the inside memory that can simply and easily click in and out, with no tools or fuss. The included short USB-C cable is also high in quality and has a handy, attached USB-A adapter.Long story short ... you'll be hard-pressed to find such a fast, high quality memory case or such a price.

Faulty boards
**UPDATE**FIDECO got back to me and advised me to update the enclosures firmware. After flashing the updated firmware, it works as it should again.Installing the m.2 was a little hard, the enclosure uses a lip at the end of casing to keep the m.2 secured down. It was very tough to get the drive past that lip, there was almost no give. I was worried I would crack or snap the board pushing so hard. But it finally went in, I added thermal pads and plugged the enclosure in.It worked GREAT for 2 months. Just about 2 weeks ago I started noticing the drive would disconnect randomly from the array, id have to unplug it and plug it back in to get my OS to recognize it again. This past week it has been happening constantly. Every time I try to write to the disk, I receive I/O errors and my OS unmounts it. M.2 works fine plugging it into my motherboard, so the enclosure controller board has gone bad.

It's very good for the price.
Seems to be working great. My only criticism is the clip used to hold down 2280 drive is very stiff. To release the drive I had to use a spudger to push it out of the way to release the drive. It comes with rubber latching plugs for shorter drives, and I would feel a lot more comfortable using those. Super fast transfer. So design, speed, & functionality: 5/5, Ease of removal 4/5. Heat dissipation 5/5, it came with a thermal pad and uses the metal case as the dissipation mechanism.

This is the one to buy.
Tool-less! Did I mention Tool-less? This is also very easy to open and close - snap fit - there are no (tiny, small) screws to deal with like other adapters. I had tried two other units before I found this unit. Works great and the price is very reasonable. You cannot go wrong with this one.
