I have had other mandolins and once I sliced the top of my thumb off. I purchased a traditional mandolin which I thought was much more substantial a while ago. I once used it once and the memories of cutting my thumb off came back and I never used it more than once. I purchased this one as it looked like it was safe. It is and very easy to use. It cut through all the veg I have tried up to this point and admittedly only using it two or three times. I've now got used to the operations and it cuts onions, potatoes into I would say French Fries size, I even cut small plum tomatoes easily, carrots and red peppers. All very easy and it's not too difficult to clean and reasonably safe unless you are stupid and attack the blade. I'm not scared of this one so that's something

This is absolutely brilliant - slicing is now so simple. I had tried another make which I found had no blade guard so I returned it on safety grounds. This one is a bit more expensive but it'sfar better made. I am delighted with it - much easier with arthritic hands. Recommend it 100%. Also red fits in with my other kitchen items!!

This is so easy to use. I make chips, chopped salad, slice veg. Quick and easy to use. Game changer. Easy to clean as well.

I bought this chopping machine for my husband as he was always slicing parts of his fingers while chopping. This machine chops fruit and vegtables safely and uses different sizes depending on what you wish to use your vegtables for. He is very pleased with it.

Good sturdy implement. Makes grating safe and easy. A good addition to cooking

Maybe it's me...I am used to the slices coming out at the bottom of similar slicers. On this one they seem to jump out from the top. This means that much of the time they miss the collecting tray and scatter on the worktop. Need to use the chopping board as well to catch the juices from tomatoes.Shreds and bits that don't jump out get stuck in the top and the bottom, so the cleaning brush is a thoughtful and necessary addition.Clean up is tricky, but the slices are good, and I still have all my fingers.

Amazing machine.

My wife has a large mandolin with an open blade and is afraid to use it because of that. This unit provides maximum safety by not having an open blade and by having a "plunger" that pushes down on the vegetables being sliced. We haven't tried all the options yet by the basic slicer works like a charm. Very easy to use.

If you missed someone for Christmas giving, send them one of these if they like to cook. Very easy to use -SAFELY - easy to assemble and clean after use. Follow the instructions and understand what foods should not be chopped with this device. It is perfect for fries, carrots, cukes, squash etc. Highly recommend.

Usage personnel , excellent oroduit

After struggling with an older mandolin for years...and dealing with that dangerous, exposed blade, I had to find something better. The Supmakin Safe Mandolin Slicer fits the need. I use it for chopping all kinds of vegetables for stir-fry, snacks and salads. It works so well I find myself using it more frequently for so many veggies.It's easy to assemble and very east to clean thoroughly.I will admit, however, it took about 20 minutes of reading the instructions and test-cutting various vegetables to fully understand all of its features and abilities. The knob for setting thickness...and the two smaller knobs for setting the width for fries or veggie sticks took a little experimenting. It sliced carrots with ease and I didn't have to force anything through the chute. It works great.As for cleaning, when the chute is removed, the blade is exposed, but not to the point of inflicting a finger cut. Common sense will tell you to keep your fingers away...although it is MUCH safer than a standard mandolin. I'm glad they included a cleaning tool which worked perfectly for cleaning the slicing slot. Highly recommended.
