Michelin 12294A Digital Programmable Tyre Pressure Gauge

I’ve always wanted a digital tire barometer, and this is exactly what I want. Although there are many styles of digital barometer, the bleed valve of this one is the key to my choice of it. Also, I just got it and haven’t used it yet, so hopefully it’s high quality.

Well what can I say? Michelin...great name... unfortunately not a great product. First impressions were good, it looked great almost sexy for a tyre pressure gauge anyway! The build was good...but that's where the positive side ends.People have commented about it being hard to figure out the functions, personally this was fine and fiddling around with the buttons for a a few seconds I was able to program the gauge.Why on earth does a product like this power off after about 10 secs at most?? Which means you literally have to power up after every tyre.I found it very awkward to use and the 'bleed' button is totally in the wrong place.I could go on...I'm sending it back...very disappointed.

I like this product for it's accuracy and sturdiness. If you remove all four tyre valves it will stay on just long enough to check all the pressures but an extra 10 seconds would be helpful.Seals on the valve easily and gives an instant clear pressure reading. Only time will tell if it is a long lasting unit.One of the better digital pressure gauges around.

Well made. Provides a good seal onto the valve stem, large enough screen for pressure display. Used in a Tyre shop for quad bikes which like to run around 3.5psi etc and Ferrari that like to run accurately in bar. Proved also that one of our analogue gauges was 6psi out of spec.

You will have to explain to the customer to swap the battery's around to get it to work. Otherwise it will be sent back.

Bought this because of the famous name and a favourable Auto Express review, but it is far from perfect. Firstly it takes about 5 seconds to switch on, which doesn't sound like much, but is frustrating as it turns off every time you move from one tyre to another which makes using it a real pain. The pressure display is huge, but the secondary display of units is tiny - why? Also, although programmable, the functions are far from intuitive, so keep the instructions at hand or forget about the programming. Despite the rotating head, it is still awkward to fit on my tyres due to the angle of the head not allowing good access to the valve. The de-pressurising button is a great idea, but is very slow to deflate, so again not ideal. Also, holding the device on the tyre valve is not comfortable due to the cumbersome design. You need to hold the very tip of the head onto the valve to allow reading of the display, which makes it uncomfortable to hold. Overall, I am quite disappointed with the poor ergonomics of this device considering the high cost, and would not recommend it for this reason.
