keeps the board from sliding
This little pad is very nice. I am new to working pottery. I got a portable wedging board to work the clay on my table. With this pad, I get it damp and set it on the table under the board and it keeps the board from sliding around. I don't have a pottery wheel yet, but when I get one, this will be more useful.

Indispensable tool, but not for what is is advertised for!
I am 72 and have been throwing pots since I was 16 so bat jitters is something I have learned to roll with. I'll give this bat mate a try for that purpose, but it really isn't why I bought it. What I do use this type of bat for is trimming. The damp sticky surface holds pots perfectly and it is my go to indispensable tool for trimming. It is so much faster that Giffin Grips, lugs, foam bats, or throwing a trimming mound. Those other techniques and tools all have their place and at times I use all of them, but for sheer speed and convenience this type of bat is the one I grab first. This one seems well made and although I haven't used it yet, I can't see any reason why it won't work just as well as the other brands I have used. It is always good to have a back up. If it dries out, just put it under the faucet and rehydrate. I like the sunny yellow color too!

Shammy-like and prevents bat movement
This is really quite grippy! It fit the wheel and the bat perfectly (add some water to it to keep it flexible), being thin enough to not cause any issues. It fit the wheel and the bat perfectly. It really did remove the slight wobble I felt with the bat previously.

Nice quality and useful
This bat mate is really nice! It has a nice thickness and it creates a grippy but not sticky surface to help your bats adhere to the wheel. I have a Xiem bat mate too, and this one is definitely thicker than that one. No idea about performance over time yet but I bet this grey one keeps its color better since the Xiem bat mate discolors over time. This is a great solution for bats that have holes that are no longer as tight, because it helps to stop them from wiggling as your throw. This makes an old bat system I have usable again. Just a caution that this absorbs water and totally dries out, so it will be hydrated when you remove it from the bag, but it will dry out in the atmosphere of your home or studio and need to be rewetted for each use. Just pop it in your throwing water or run it under the sink. Works like a charm.

Game CHANGER! Amazing product!
I have been STRUGGLING with wobbly bats at my studio, nothing seemed to resolve the issue and I'd never had such a problem with bats shifting in the past, so I was getting pretty frustrated and was at a loss, I'd resigned to just not using bats.I stumbled on this product, and for $10 I thought, heck, I'll give it a try. And let me tell you, WOW! This thing actually works, it was so easy to set up, just set it on the wheel and install your bat on top. All the wobbling and knocking back and forth was gone. I feel so relieved having a solution for the wobbly bat issue, cannot recommend this product enough! It even helps make warped bats functional again, just so happy with this simple little tool, def recommend for any potter!

I changed my mind
Ya know...I was HOT at first because I was expecting to get a rigid bat. Was not happy with this flimsy clammy-feeling thing that looks like a fat handi wipe. I was about to return it and I figured I'd go ahead and give it a try. This thing WORKS! I teach ceramics to teenagers and all of the bats in the studio rattle around and shake on the wheel and it is nearly impossible to center the clay. Many of the kids don't even want to try to throw anymore because of the shaking bats, it's too frustrating. This bat mate is kind of pricey, but I'm considering investing in some for the studio because it's worth it to just get past the frustration. It holds the bats securely and centering is a breeze now. Never thought I'd say that! So give it a go, I highly recommend it.

Nice quality, but kind of pricey
This is a pretty basic synthetic chamois cut in a circle as a bat mat. For what it is, its pretty pricey. The 2-pack is a far more reasonable deal, although even that is still above average priced. But it works, so no complaints there.

exactly as described
item was exactly what was described and shown in the listing. The material seems like it's just a chamoise that was cut round with 2 holes in it. That being said it does work for what it's supposed to and fit a standard pottery wheel with no issues.
