I just recently came across the concept of square foot gardening so when I saw these seed planting templates I was really excited to start planting my vegetable seeds. At first I thought the price was pretty high but they are really well made and come with a seed dibbler and a soil leveling tool. The set also comes with a vegetable planting guide which list which vegetables to use for each template. I am really impressed with this gardening set.

This is a tool to help gardeners plant different seed varieties at their recommended spacing and depth. Common vegetable plants are illustrated on the plant ruler board with their space requirements for quick visual reference. This is also a fun way to get kids involved in gardening. There is also a printed guide included with more even plants listed. For plants not listed, consult your seed packet. So, why not just cast seeds out into soil and hope for the best? Optimal spacing between seeds helps plants grow and mature without overcrowding. Overcrowded plants compete for the same limited resources which reduces production. Also, not all seed sprout at the same depth. This tool includes a dibbler for making a seed hole with depth increments from 1 to 4 inches. The tool is best used for row gardening. The printed guide lists distances to use between rows for different vegetables.The material is thin plywood. Using around soil, it will gather dirt, stains, and moisture. Be sure to dry and wipe clean after use to prolong its life and help measurement marking remain visible.If you use the square-foot-gardening method, this is probably not the tool for you. Instead, check out Seeding Square's color coded measuring tool. It's about twice the cost, but made of plastic (waterproof, easy-clean) with a magnetic dibbler and seed funnel.

Sometimes you don't know you need something until you have it and then you don't know how you lived without it. Such is the case with this planting set. You can choose the right template for what seeds you're planting and you can mark where you already planted with the metal marker. It's genius. Works for flowers and veggies and keeps you on track.

This would make a thoughtful gift for new gardeners!!!

I like this Wooden Plant Ruler with Seed Dibber. Make sure you get the dibbler and the hand out out of the box before you throw it away, they stick inside the box and it's difficult to tell they're still in there. This ruler is so helpful and has a lot of great information all in one easy to use board. I think I will use it a lot. It doesn't seem to be covered in anything that will protect it from water or dirt. I suggest you seal it with something before using it and it will last a lot longer. I liked the board and dibber all by themselves, but the info in the little handout is invaluable to have all in one place. I recommend this product.

Wondering why you need this instead of simply using a ruler? There are 2 major benefits I appreciate when using this. The first is the easy reference of spacing for specific plants, as shown in the pictures. The second is that this tool offers the ability to use a dibber and plants seeds more accurately and efficiently without having to constantly readjust a ruler. Helpful tool!

The media could not be loaded.  I have never thought about anything like this until I saw it. I’m a Gardener so I automatically fell in love because of how handy it is and how I now don’t have to guess my space. I have a system that I use that tells me exactly how many plants I can put in a bed based on space needed but I usually have to guess and most of the times I’m way off but with this the guessing is over. The material is wood and feels durable enough to handle moisture. Yet to test it though. I love the fact that it comes with a seed dipper as well which I can also use to dip for transplanting plants. I like the cheat sheet info that comes printed on the ruler and it also comes with a chart with more information like checklist, crop list, etc.(see on video) my toddlers are excited to help with it and it makes it easier for me to let them because they can’t miss the hole with this and waste my seeds lol.The only thing that I’ll say is that if you’re planting a whole field it might be tiresome and time consuming but for regular beds and small spaces this will be great.

This sweet wooden plant ruler with a seed dibber is a wonderful tool and/or gift for any gardner. Thr ruler along with the garden chart that comes with it takes the guess work out of seed planting. The writing on the wooden ruler appears to be printed on, but the pictures are slightly raised and appear to be decals. I wouldn't recommend exposing the board to water. I'm very pleased with this tool as well as the quality and value.
