Really good espresso and nice variety 50-pack
We never owned an Espresso machine but got one as a Christmas gift. The machine came with a few espresso capsules but we ran out pretty fast. The first place I looked was Amazon and discovered the L’OR products. The photos and descriptions looked and sounded great. We got the 50 capsule (“variety”) pack with coffee strength ranging from 7 to 12. They were all great as some days (Mondays??) you need a little extra caffeine kick (12). Other mornings maybe not so much so 7 to 9 hit the spot. We’re almost out so, gotta go order more.

I love the flavor and aroma of L’Or pods! They are the best! No aftertaste. I use them in my Nespresso machine.

A matter of price honestly
If you’re considering purchasing this item then you’re probably like me in that you enjoy nespresso but find that sometimes the cost for capsules can be harsh. I had put up my Essenza mini machine, which at this point is probably 10 years old (never one problem with this great machine btw), and been using a Keurig for a bit. I do this on and off due to boredom and, or cost per cup issues. So when I got the nespresso out I figured I’d try this brand of capsules as they’re obviously cheaper than nespresso ones. The pros are that I didn’t have any kind of failure to insert, remove or brew a capsule properly. All of the capsules I got were in sealed boxes and were in perfect condition. I thought that the flavors were pretty good and there was some difference between the various flavors. They all came out hot and tasted fresh. If I had any knocks I’d say that the crema on top may have been slightly thinner (going by memory) and while they all tasted ok they maybe lacked a little of the depth you can get from some nespresso ones. With nespresso capsules you can really have quite noticeable notes and differences between varieties, which I love, but with the Lor I found the actual differences between the 3 in this pack fairly slight. If you just enjoy a quick little cup of coffee or espresso but don’t want to pay nespresso prices then I can’t imagine how you’d go wrong with these. If you really, really enjoy nespresso then you’ll likely find that this brand comes pretty close but you may end up slightly disappointed on flavor variety only. That’s pretty much the best way I can put it. If someone offered me a sleeve of nespresso capsules or this brand then I’d always take the nespresso one. Having said that, in the past I’ve tried a few different alt brand capsules, including Starbucks ones, and these Lor ones to me have been the best alternatives I’ve found thus far. Let’s face it…people with nespresso machines most likely enjoy nespresso. But with a 50ct nespresso order pushing $50 these days you’re either good with that or willing to sacrifice some flavor for price. Your wallet decides.

Rich Espresso Variety Pack
These espresso capsules are a fantastic alternative to the standard Nespresso pods. The intense variety pack offers a great range of flavors, which we absolutely love. They work perfectly with our Nespresso machine, and the quality is consistently excellent. It's a great way to enjoy a premium espresso experience at home.

Perfect Alternative as long as you like Variety
I'd purchased the "sister" pods to these, the Peets from Costco, so I knew the quality of the pods themselves as these are manufactured/packaged by that same company. Looking for another less expensive alternative to Nespresso themselves, and faced with a too-good-to-pass-up offer on Prime Day for these L'Or pods, I ordered a pack of both the mild and intense as a sampler.A couple of notes:- Some of these pods are meant to be Lungo pulls. Unlike Nespresso & Peets these are actually conveniently LABELLED, not just with a number for intensity but with "Lungo" written on the Lungo pods as well as the origin name for the specialty pods (like the Papua New Guinea). Keep this in mind when brewing your pods.- I think the labelling is fantastic in itself, and something that needs to be done by all these pod makers. Most seem to think that the aesthetics of a plain pod are more important than knowing what I'm drinking. Nope. And (looking at you Nespresso) the colors of the pods in these variety packs are all actually distinguishable even beyond the labelling. No worries about trying to figure out which shade of tan/gold/brown is which when you're bleary-eyed in the AM.- Pricing on Prime Day was unbeatable. I'm looking forward to ordering a good supply next time they're offered. Even without the deal they are much less expensive than Nespresso/Peets normal pricing.- The more intense varieties are imo better with some milk, I use the really intense ones (10+) for making lattes and iced coffee. The less intense 7-8 are good without additions.- I've only had one semi-dud capsule thus far. I inserted it in machine and attempted to brew and nothing happened at all other than the button on my machine blinking. Turned out the narrow end of the pod was pierced but not the other grid side. I was actually able to reinsert this pod (creating a total of 6 piercings at the narrow end) and get it to brew. Just thought that unusual, and it had no effect on the coffee itself. I was a little concerned about my machine in the interim, but all was well.Negatives:- I'd love to be able to buy specific varieties in quantity. Seems they only chose a couple of varieties (Onyx/Colombia) to carry on their own. Others are available at nearly twice the price as of this writing, including a few not in the variety packs in this listing, but at that rate I'd might as well just order from Nespresso themselves.-Recycling is questionable. I've read some mixed comments about whether you can send these to Nespresso for recycling. Seems their stance is that since they recycle the aluminum AND compost the grounds, and they can't vouch for what's in competitor's grounds, they don't want competitor's pods for fear of contaminating their compost (which makes sense on paper but is really likely nonsense. No doubt part of their pod pricing is subsidizing the recycling, which doesn't happen when you buy someone else's pods). Peets was supposed to have started their own recycling program, presumably they'd be able to recycle these as well since they're packaged by the same company. I've not yet looked into that.
