Amazing
As long as your machine is made with plenty of metal this Seam Guide is one great invention. There are a few similar versions out there but this one has the ability to be left in place but swung out of the way when not required then swung back to the exact same position when required without the need to reset it.It also holds the fabric down which is great for a folded hem.I use mine on my vintage Singer machine which is all cast iron so loads of space for the magnet to hold. Not sure how it would work on a modern plastic and metal machine. It's also great value too.

Versatile
Once you work out how to use this it’s quite easy. The nice thing is it’s versatile and can be used to guide narrow or small edges through. As it has a sliding adjustment the magnet section can be moved back out of the way. It’s important to adjust the sprung material guide so it doesn’t grip the cloth or it will cause the material to stop moving.Another device that’s handy to have and very reasonably priced.

complication for the sake of complication?
I had high hopes of this gadget, thinking that it might help me with my top-stitching which after 50 years of practice is still a little unreliable. Having had a fiddle around with it I found that it would only attach firmly if at least a quarter of the magnet was in direct contact with the metal plate. I don't think that my foot plate is much smaller than most domestic machines. It is useful for edge-stitching when placed in front of the foot, and could be used from both sides, see photos. However these photos show the limits to positioning, and it wasn't possible to use it to stitch further from the needle. I still haven't worked out what the little 'ear' on the side of the magnet is for even after reading the helpful advice:"you can move the fixed position by breaking it here" and "Adjust the Position of the Guide Through It". Neither have I worked out how you are supposed to use the hinge. I suspect it works a lot better on machines where the entire table is metal. At the current price of £7.99 I'd rather use a plain rectangular magnet.
