Makes me wonder WHY I ever used a yoga towel in the first place!!
So I first came across the Ridgeback while trying to search for a halfway decent yoga towel. I've started doing yoga over the past few months, and noticed that (1) my yoga mat, a Jade Harmony XW, could not last through the piles of sweat that came off my body during hot yoga and (2) none of the yoga towels I purchased before came close to staying in place during the course of the class. I tried several oversized towels, and noticed most of the time I'd be adjusting the thing (either by my hands or feet) because they kept bunching up.While searching Amazon, I came across the Ridgeback Yoga Rug. At first, I was a bit weary about spending more on a yoga "towel" than I had my own yoga mat, but once I saw the videos, I knew it would be worth the extra cost. And boy, am I GLAD I bought this. It's worth EVERY PENNY and then some. The quality is amazing, and I can finally focus on my positions more during the class and stay completely mindful of my poses without worry about the slipping or bunching I experienced with a traditional towel. This thing stays in place. And oddly enough, after using it about 5 times, I have yet to have to wash it (and no, it does not smell)! One thing I especially love about this mat is the width, it spans the width of my extra wide Jade mat with ease. However, it is a little bit shorter than my current yoga mat. I contacted the sellers via their website, and their customer service was outstanding, and they let me know in a few months there would be an extra long version which sounds AMAZING!!I'm 6'1 and currently, as long as I keep my hands about 3/4 up the mat toward edge of the rug during downward dog, I have plenty of space. I guess I'm just a little OCD about having a little bit of my Jade mat exposed during the class, but I'ver grown more use to it because this thing is AMAZING!!!I would say if you're contemplating buying this but weary about the price, I was right there with you. But once you receive it, the quality of this thing is incredible, and it's definitely a top quality product. Much like buying a very nice pair of dress shoes that are hand made, I can tell that this thing will last a LONG TIME.If you want more mindful and focused yoga sessions, and to honestly feel BETTER each and every time you leave hot yoga (because you were focused on your positions, NOT on the damn towel) do yourself a favor and buy this IMMEDIATELY. It was the best purchase I've made in some time, and if you order it, I'm sure you will think the same!!Lastly, some people here mention the mat hurting their hands during the routine. I have not experienced this myself, but the mat is definitely super grippy (blows any towel you can buy out of the water).Overall: Ridgeback Yoga Mat + no more slipping or bunching+ better sessions +reduced stress + no gross sweat stink or need to wash (like a towel) after each session+ incredible and friendly customer service+ top quality product = an A++++ purchase.

... course the most expensive one on the market I love the most
Of course the most expensive one on the market I love the most, but this is easily the best option out there! I'm so happy that I'm never going to need another yoga mat towel again. There are so many things I love about it, especially the non-slippage factor with my feet. I feel like it really does keep my feet firmly planted and I LOVE that it doesn't move one bit. A big standout was doing crescent lunge; I felt like my back foot is able to stay grounded better, that I'm much more steady and balanced rising up into that posture. I actually did my first handstand on it ever, not sure if that was to do with the rug but it definitely didn't hurt! The rug is so much thicker than a towel so you have that extra cushioning, which helps me feel more supported when doing inversions. My only issue is that I felt that the non-slip ridges were digging into the heels of my hands a bit in downward dog. I don't know if that means that I'm putting too much pressure into the heels of my hands and that is something that I need to correct, but that was my only negative. I reached out to the company about this concern, they so kindly got back to me right away and gave me some pointers to correct this. They said that the non-slip ridges will soften over time and to wash it a couple times as well to aid in the softening process. I highly recommend buying this yoga rug - it is a game changer!

Paid too much.
The media could not be loaded. I read the reviews that it hurts your hands (true). But, because of the material and specific grip weave of the rug I felt it would be a chance purchase even though the price was a bit way too much. It absorbs great, I sweat a lot, and grips very well. It has small fuzzies that stuck to me like a new towel does. I have not washed the rug yet and this was the second time using it during my hot yoga class. I am washing it now to see if the pilling straightens (possibly built like that due to expected shrinkage), hopefully washing away the fuzzies, and to see if it softens the fabric for my hands. Fingers crossed.Update. After washing it the pilling appears to be gone, feels softer, but will find out more after my next hot yoga class.Update#2. Way softer on your hands after washing it. Pilling far less and it is still just as absorbent. I took a chance and I am glad that I did. I still feel I paid too much though.

This is a beautiful rug. A really special splurge that was well worth it. I have the Indigo, and I love the rich color and the soft yet functional fabric. It addition to be being beautiful, it is very well thought-out from a practical standpoint. The grommet is big enough to allow me to hang the rug on the jacket hooks in our mudroom after class - - no trying to find a special place to hang it. The fact that I don't need to wash it after every use is amazing - - so convenient. The small zipper pocket is just right for my membership card, and it would be big enough for my cell phone as well, but I choose to not bring my cell to yoga class :). A special gift for the yogi in your life, or to pamper yourself.

Loses Grip
I liked the idea of the the mat but after I washed it a couple times I noticed it doesn’t grip the way it did prior to washing. The whole reason I got the mat was because I sweat so much that I need to wash it frequently. Oh well.
