Samsonite Focus III 4 in. Hardside Attache Case

Great product. Bought it for my husband as a birthday present. He used the same type for many years until the handle broke and could not be replaced. The previous one looked the same but was 6 inches deep whereas the new one is only 4 (could not find the 6-inch model anymore).

The product came right on time!After opening, I realized that the briefcase did not come with the center flap as is shown on most pictures. I also noticed that people have had trouble with the internal plastic compartments (one that is made to house business cards, the other exactly 4 commercial sized pens) I also found these to be troublesome; the pen holder is only capable of holding the specific sized pen, even pencils wont work! But, however, you can take out the plastic insert and turn it into a compartment. Although unprofessional and kind of tricky to use at times, I currently use it to hold 10 or so various pens and pencils! As for the business card holder, I don't have business cards so i don't have a use for this yet. Taking the plastic compartments out is probably the best course of action seeing that it allows for about half an inch more room for whatever books and stuff you would want to store.Other than that litte issue, the inside of the case is all business. There are no dividers for the file holder, but i am just fine with that. The exterior is just how you would expect it to look. Nothing feels cheap; it's a very solid design and isn't too flashy, but it's pretty sleek looking. The handle is pretty comfortable. It's a little flexible and rubbery. latches work pretty well and feel nice to use. They wont work if the case is upside down. The only complaint here is that there is a bit of friction in the mechanisms themselves. Sometimes it feels like i could break them if i shut them incorrectly, i might even put some vasolene in them to allow for a better, more consistent slide.I think i've covered everything! This is my first briefcase, and i'm using it for school so i can't vouche from a professional perspective.

I have enjoyed owning and using three Samsonite Focus 4" attache cases over the past 25 years. They are have been very durable, well-designed, and attractive looking; that is why I keep buying them. I was surprised, however, that this current model is substantially different than the previous model in several ways: -1- It is larger in height, width, and depth. -2- It has two separate hinges rather than the previous models' "piano" type hinge all the way across the back. -3- The finish is very shiny black. -4- There are hard plastic containers for pens/pencils, etc. which take up room inside. -5- The pen/pencil container has a flimsy plastic insert which is poorly designed and will not hold different thickness pens/pencils (I removed the insert completely). -6- There are no dividers inside the lid for organizing papers. It is a good attache case, just not an exact replacement of previous model. I hope this information is helpful to others.

I have had two of these Samsonite brief cases through my 27 years in the home building business and I can tell you they hold up very well. They have been vwery functional and have an impressive style. Very tough exterior......DDC

I got this as a gift for my dad, and he loves it! Its got a great modern, smooth look with the classic Samsonite feel and durability. Now, I'm thinking of getting one for myself! Just wish they made one in Platinum/Silver...
