Once I found a usable fuse, the rest was gravy!
This kit WORKS! It was a little difficult to find a fuse that turns on and off with the key. (My 2017 Ford powers the accessory plug at all times, key on or not, so was not a viable option for me.) I ended up using the windshield wiper fuse. But once I was able to find a viable fuse, the rest of the installation went very smooth and the dash cam oks perfectly. If you have an imported car, you can probably use the accessory outlet. If you have a Ford, you can probably use this ket, and choose the windshield wiper fuse. It woks like a charm. Well worth the money!

Works with any Mini-USB camera or device that pulls 2 amps or less.
This hardwire kit should work with any camera that uses a Mini-USB (or Micro-USB if you choose that option) connector for power. I am using it with a Whistler group D16VRS "Luxury Dashcam Automotive DVR" and it easily installed in my 2001 Honda Accord LX. I was able to tuck the wire into the headliner along the top of the windshield, then run it behind the left A-Pillar down to the driver side fuse panel. The fuse tap fit easily and I was able to tie the excess wire to a nearby harness. I liked that it came not only with 2 different size fuse taps, but also the required fuse! It was easy to remove the 7 amp fuse from my windshield washer fluid pump, plug it into the fuse tap beside the already installed 2 amp fuse, then plug the whole thing into the newly vacated space on my fuse box. I was worried that the straight connector on the USB end might interfere with my suction cup mount, but once it's set in the cameras plug it clears just fine. I love not seeing wires.

No stable mounting solution, beeps at power transitions
I used this kit to wire a Viofo A119S v2 camera to my car. This kit includes a power supply and a couple of fuse taps. You'll want to make sure the fuse taps fit your car. Notably missing are Micro and Micro2 sizes, which are quite common. Other kits include these sizes, or you can buy the taps separately. The USB cable to the powered device is generously long; I had no problem routing it from behind my glove box (where my fuse panel is), around the A pillar, over the windshield, and behind my mirror. There was plenty of cable left. I don't think it's quite long enough to power a rear-facing camera on the back deck, but it's probably long enough for most applications on the windshield. The device is just a small box, about an inch square and around 2.5 inches long. There is no provided way to mount this box. You can zip-tie the cables (no zip ties are included in this kit) and hang the device somewhere, but you'll have to find a way to keep it from rattling or clicking while the car is in motion. There are no usable loops or screw tabs on the device, either. Double-tick tape or Velcro are the only other viable options for mounting. The device also has a beeper. It's quite annoying; it chirps when the device turns on and when it turns off. I have no clue what the purpose of the beeper is, and find it terribly annoying. I don't need a cacophony of chrips and tones greeting me when I turn my car on or shut it off. I see no way to disable the beeper, and the beeper isn't mentioend in the product manual. Once installed, it works great -- aside from that beeping.

Very easy to install
This Meknic Hardwire kit is very easy to fit. You really only need a little bit of car knowledge to follow the supplied instructions. The Red wire is for the power feed and the Black wire needs to be attached to a ground point on your vehicle (like a grounded bolt on your steering or brake assembly). Be sure to connect the Red and Black wires first before routing the cable to the camera mounting. This is a 12/24 Volt input and 5V/2A output system going to the mini USB which matches the dash camera. It has voltage protection to protect your car battery nd allow you car DVR to work automatically. There is no worry about the DVR running down your battery. And the Meknic kit comes with the two types of fuse connectors-standard or mini- and added plus to you always have a matching fuse size. Just pull out one of your existing fuses and match it with the easy to use connector. Pretty darn simple.

Very good kit. Easy to install with everything in the kit. No need to buy extra fuse. Took about half an hour to install and my camera is working perfect now. Before my camera was not getting enough power from the cigarette lighter adapter and it use to cut out and restart, but since I installed this kit it’s been working great. I would definitely recommend this kit

This took me about 15 minutes to install. Was fairly easy, but will depend on your car. Fuse connectors work well, and you can remove an existing fuse, plug this in, and then put the fuse back in the plugin adapter, really neat design. I unscrewed a nut under the dash and put the ground connector there. So far so good!

Easy to install, able to comletely hide the wire and access the fuse box. Nice power thief, combines OEM fuse and the power cable fuse in the Fuse Box. On the downside, my GPS battery will not charge using this cable.

I wanted to install a dashcam/backup camera combo in my dads truck as a surprise Christmas gift. I couldn't for the life of me figure out what size fuse I needed, and I didn't have access to his truck to check. This kit came in handy with 4 fuse sizes, and surely enough - it was one of them. Everything works great, and I have some spare taps if I ever need different sizes for another vehicle.
