Be very careful with any wooden hob covers
Be super careful with this hob cover, I nearly burnt the house down last week.Granted it's mainly my fault, it's something you should bear in mind if purchasing a wooden product that's meant to cover a surface that has the ability to heat up and I'd just like to make people aware, especially if there's a chance it could prevent the same thing from happening to someone else.I have an electric hob 2 ring hob in a super tiny kitchenette. It's electric black glass/ceramic like in the picture, but it has physical nobs that stick out from the surface to control the heat, not touch sensitive and not induction. If it's on, it'll heat up regardless.I figured this would be a great way to maximise my workspace and help prevent accidentally knocking the knobs on the hob if this was covering it. It was lovely when it arrived and I used it for a couple of weeks. I never put it over the hob when it was on of course, but I did occasionally put it on after I was cooking and the hob was still cooling down, figuring the fairly large gap would provide enough of an air gap. I did notice after a week or two there was a split starting to form in the wood, probably from the residual heat. So you really should let it cool a fair bit before putting it on.That aside I cleaned the kitchen after breakfast one day (wasn't even using the hob), cleaned the countertop and put the cover on the hob. I must have accidentally knocked the physical knob with the foot of the wooden board when placing it on the hob, to maximum heat...I then proceeded to do some work outside. About 20 mins later my housemate on the opposite side of the house heard the smoke alarm and I went back inside to investigate. The hob had heated this up enough that it caught fire and was burning like a log fire on top of the stove. A good 50% of it was charcoal by the time I got to it and flames were licking the extractor fan.Luckily I got the fire out before it spread anywhere to serious. The countertop is now burnt though and will have to be replaced. We'll probably have to repaint the kitchen and the hallway to eliminate the smell of smoke.I consider myself extraordinarily lucky that this happened when I hadn't left the house completely, as it could quite easily have burnt the house down if I was away and my housemate hadn't have been in.I'm not blaming the product either, I just want to inform people as to the risk of getting something as flammable as this to cover a surface that has the potential to heat to high temperatures. If I had an induction hob, this wouldn't have been an issue. If I had an electric hob with touch buttons that beeps or turns off automatically when there's nothing on it, this could also have been avoided. It was primarily an unlucky combination of having physical knobs on the same flat surface of the hob that's easy to knock and me being a bit of an idiot. All that aside, it's a pretty nice board and great for working on - the main reason I got this over a glass or ceramic one is that it was better for chopping. Please please be extraordinarily careful with hob covers and think about how the combination of your particular hob and the cover you use may impact each other.I would still probably buy this again if I had an induction hob and I knew there would be no way to heat the wood apart from residual heat after cooking. My image seemed to not upload properly, so here's a link to the remnants of the board: http://imgur.com/hBy9o6OAn amazon staff member is welcome to attach it to the post if links aren't allowed.

Really great idea. We have a very small kitchen and it just creates that extra bit of bench space. Just be careful you don't put the hob on when it's in place! My partner did just that and it singed underneath but is still sturdy. I've heard of the glass ones blowing up so if you're a bit forgetful I'd go for the wood. It's a bit big for our hob as we have the narrower sized oven and it comes a little bit over the front two electric rings rather than just the two back ones but we just move it to the back when we want to use them. Very happy with it. Great space saving device.

Good, sturdy boards
I bought two of those to cover the top of my new ceramic hob. I felt that two smaller boards were better than one larger cover to go over the whole hob. I think i'm turning out to be right. Also, I decided on these made of bamboo rather than covers made of reinforced glass, as even thought the glass is not likely to break I knew I would feel a little anxious handling them. Very pleased with these. They do both as hob covers and chopping boards.

Perfect to protect a double or quadruple ring hob whatever you use to cook with
As long as you're not a numpty you should be fine using this.Don't expect the wood to be fire retardant because it's generally not wise assumption! I'm fine because I use induction hob but if you're using this on anything else be careful not to put the hob on by mistake. It fits my 2 ring induction hob to perfection and offers the protection it desperately needs. Two side by side look great on my gas hob so will be repeating my purchase in due course.

I like the grain and general appearance
I bought these because I have an induction hob which I need to use as worktop space in my small kitchen and I don't want the hob to get scratched.I like the grain and general appearance. They get five stars but I bought two and i wish they were a bit bigger. They don't cover the area of my hob. Also the feet are very high but they can be removed as they are only screwed on. I can probably use them for something else. The height wouldn't be a problem if the boards were bigger.

This Zeller Hob Cover Chopping Board was delivered far quicker than I expected and was well packed to ensure I received it safely. I have to say I am more than pleased with it and would recommend it to anyone with a glass topped hob. It saves the hob from getting scratched by anyone dragging a pan over it or putting sharp or heavy items on it. Unfortunately, I was too late to prevent this happening to my hob, but it will ensure this doesn't happen again. Another great item from Amazon and Zeller. Thank you.

One perfect and one wobbly. Edit: replacement also unbalanced and wobbly.
I ordered 2 of these for our hob. They both look lovely and are the perfect size; however, whilst one of the boards sat perfectly, the other wobbled. When turned over onto the wood it still did the same so it was an issue with the wood and not the feet. I’m returning that one and ordering a replacement though because they are ideal for what we want. Just a pity they weren’t both level.Edit: I’ve dropped this to 2 stars now because we’ve received a third board and that is also wobbly. Only 1 out of 3 was stable, poor.
