Wanted to read this as I have toyed with the idea of making a channel, but didn't know how it all worked. Obviously I had some idea but this book is definitely a manual for success. Easy to understand, straight talking instructions,and fantastic advice.Learn what you need - its all there. Information suitable for the beginner and the expert. From how to set up a you tube channel, through to solid advice about creating quality content, gaining subscribers and taking advantage of the YouTube algorithm. This book gives information on YouTube and how to curate a successful channel.It is a nice read for the absolute beginner. As a person who has had their channel for 3 years, I did really not learn anything unfortunately.It gives the new to YouTube reader plenty of info, useful checklists at the end of each chapter, and an overview on what to expect at each step of beginning your channel. The explanation of for instance the analytics area in YouTube Studio is very in-depth.At the same time, at times the book only provided broad statements without going into the practical side of for instance how to exactly find a niche.Things get a bit more specific later on, but still there is a lack of follow through. An example- it is mentioned that viewers might click out of a video if it is too long. But, how long is too long? And if this book cannot give quantitative information, how can the reader find this out for themselves and their videos?The formatting/layout could be improved a lot and for a book about video there was a severe lack of images.What really surprised me, was an offhand comment when discussing possible niches and where you might want to focus on. The quote is: "Some slightly older women love makeup tutorials because they give them insights on how to appear younger and more vibrant."IMMEDIATELY NO. A comment on the age of a specific group of people whose only reason is to watch a specific video because they want to de-age themselves?! I did not understand at all why the author felt the need to make such a comment.1 star for that random quote, 3.5 stars for the overview of all the info, rounded up to 3 stars at "it was OK".
