Great kit, a good match for actual antique hardware
I'd call myself a wiring beginner but when my favorite antique lamp started acting "off" I knew it was time to rewire. The hardware matched perfectly to the actual antique metal hardware that stayed on my lamp. I only used the socket and wire from this kit but the instructions were amazing and helped me replace the parts that needed to be replaced. I followed the directions, and the lamp works like it's brand new. This kit was a great value. **Edit to add** since writing this, I have rewired two more antique lamps after purchasing the same kit. It's so simple to fix and I feel much more safe with updated wiring.

works but directions are wrong
So, I've never rewired a lamp before. I thought a kit like this would be a good place to start. And it was. However, the directions are very specific that the hot and neutral wires will have different textures specifically stating that one is smooth and one is textured. Absolutely not the case. The wires and the sheathing are identical except one wire has a silver end and one has a darker end. After some research, I discovered this is an industry standard to differentiate the 2 wires, but the written directions for this product do not match the product. I felt the wires. I looked at the wires with a flashight. There is no difference in the wires or sheathing. So, just know this, if you are going to follow their directions. I also reached out to their customer support but never received an answer. I took off a star because wiring a lamp incorrectly is very dangerous and the directions should be correct.

Saved a family heirloom
I inherited my grandmother’s house and all her possessions. In digging through the attic I found this cypress knee lamp my great great uncle had made in 1957. Being that it had been in the attic for 42 Texas summers, I decided instead of plugging in I would just buy a new wiring kit for it. I’ve never wired a lamp before but this kit made it super easy! Since the old wiring was so brittle and falling apart I just cut the wires and pulled it all out. I followed the directions provided, and sure enough, it works great! Got a GE LED 60 watt bulb in it, which looks similar to an Edison bulb, and bought a new lamp shade from Lowe’s and it turned out beautiful! It’s been working great for a couple of months with no issues

A new skill acquired & mastered
Well I failed the first few times -user error- because I kept forgetting to set up the bottom portion first and work my way up. Every time I thought I had it I realized I had made another mistake. After the third try, after I took everything apart all over again, try number four hit the mark!It was easy enough to figure out without instructions. The picture was the most useful. I’d never wired a lamp before so this was an awesome new experience for me. I did some research on my own, ordered what I thought I needed, & then trial and error for me there. Don’t get me wrong. I made it a functioning working light 💡 on the first try, but since I kept forgetting pieces that had to go in first before the pipe, it wouldn’t stay up. Each time I realized what I’d done wrong the time before. It became an excellent learning experience & great reinforcement of what I’d learned by the repetition of the same steps several times.I’m now fully confident that I could easily go fix any desk lamp & maybe even standing lamps as well.Really happy with this & so glad it all worked out. I restore antiques for a living, & this will be quite a nice skill to add to my toolbox.

Just what my lamp needed!!!
I had purchased this lamp in a second hand shop 13 years ago. I love the old bedside lamp but it needed a bit of antiquing. The switch had been moved to the cord. I was able to put the switch back up under the bulb where it needed to be and give the old dear a sweet face lift. She looks marvelous now and it was so easy to do. Thank you!

Cost
Seems over priced. makes me very reluctant to do home projects. they did work. and everything was included. but again. for the price I should of went to good will and just bought a lamp and stripped it down.
