ZurnWilkins RK114-975XLC 1-1/4"-2" 975XL/XL2 Complete Poppets, Springs and Seats Repair Kit

My valve was inspected by a local company for the annual inspection. It failed and the tech told my wife it would be approximately $700.00 for repair. After viewing a couple of YouTube videos, I took off the first cap and found that the spring had broken into 3 pieces. After 16 years I thought it was prudent to do a complete rebuild. It was very easy to disassemble everything except unscrewing the valve seats. Probably takes a special tool but I improvised and got the old one out and new ones installed. Be careful screwing in the new seats as there is only about 1-1/2 to 2 threads of engagement.Setting up another test for next week.

Best to buy this name brand item, I tried another cheaper kit and it never sealed. You get what yo pay for.

Great kit! Every part fit. Directions were clear and complete. They even included a small packet of grease for the o-rings. When I dismantled my device, I found a shattered poppet, which made me glad I chose this kit rather than the one that only had seals and springs. The only thing I would add is a small, flat tool to remove the seal seats. I think it’s sold separately.

The kit contained everything I needed to rebuild my valve and it was easy to install. Two things to pay close attention to. Make sure that after removing the old parts from the valve body that you clean the valve body very well and secondly, the kit contains replacement springs and they are not all the same, make sure to pay close attention as to what length spring came out of what position so you can replace the old spring with the correct new spring.

I watched some videos before working on my 975. I took it apart first and discovered a split in the plunger and worn out "O" ring so I got the whole kit. Works great. The amazing thing about this experience is that I sent an email to ask a question and got a fast answer. Why is that amazing? It was a Sunday!!!My only suggestion is that with the complete kit Zurn should supply a cheap cast wrench to work on the seats instead of having folks figure out how to make something work. Charge $5 if need be, not $25.

I did the rebuild myself and it has now passed 2 inspections. Been in for just over a year.

Definitely pays to buy genuine replacement parts. First aftermarket kit I bought did not stop the unit from leaking.

Bought to complete repair leak. Contractor said parts were not available and said he had to cut it out and replace the entire assembly. Was able to order and repair within 24 hours of him saying that. Backflow tested and passed.
