DVD. The beautiful Bassenthwaite Lake is the setting for this film which follows the return of one of nature's most spectacular birds of prey, the Osprey. Persecuted by man in the past, it is over 150 years since ospreys bred in the Lake District. This film gives a rare insight into the lives of a magnificent male Osprey, known as "No-ring, and his two successive mates who produced 19 chicks from 2001 to 2009. His fishing prowess is legendary. The Lake District Osprey Project was formed in 2000 from The Forestry Commission, The Lake District National park Authority and the R.S.P.B. to manage this project. (which will receive a donation from the sale of this DVD). Staff and volunteers from the project have given protection to these vulnerable birds and also allowed over half a million visitors to see and learn about the ospreys.
