One of my personal favorites
My best friend and I had an absolute blast solving this mystery. We had only done a few before this one but we loved how easy it was as well as the style of the game ( helping ghosts pass through instead of a murder mystery). We definitely have a preference for the games with animated characters rather than pictures of real people. It was pretty easy and a nice palette cleanser. It might not be for everyone but we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Fun for game night
Fun game for all ages, quality is decent. I believe when I got this originally the price was much higher and at that price point I don't know that it was worth it, but at the current cost it's worth it. I would definitely buy more games from this company.

Fun but not worth the price tag
This made for a fun evening with family. I give three stars though based on difficulty and quality. We have recently been working through several of these sets and the quality and difficulty of this was was subpar. For the price tag, I expected more.

Can Never Go Wrong With Hunt A Killer
Instructions are always straight forward with every set I have ever received. Situations are always interesting and keep players engaged. “Clues” never cease to amaze me from set to set, the quality that you get in EVERY set never lets me down: I have almost every set and I haven’t once regretted purchasing a set for family game night. Great Product.

Makes for a fun game night
As with other Hunt A Killer games I’ve played, Ghastly Manor is a high quality game that’s a fun game night idea for a small group. Here’s a quick list of pros and cons.Pros:- High quality materials and items, with a good mix of clues/included items to be used in the game.- Good plot, just like all the other Hunt A Killer games we’ve played. Puts you in the role of a ghost hunter trying to banish 5 ghosts from a haunted inn.- Numerous puzzles and challenges to keep you engaged in the game.- Blurs the line between regular Hunt A Killer games and Escape Room games. It challenges your group to abolish the ghosts from the inn within 90 minutes, adding a sense of urgency to the game.- Including set up and reading of the plot, this provides somewhere in the range of 2 hours of fun for a small group (we usually have 4 or 5 in our group). This is the sweet spot in my eyes; it’s not so short that you’ll need backup games to play, but also not so long that you begin to get frustrated or lose interest.Cons:- Price point seems high for what it is. I always rate entertainment value in terms of cost per hour of entertainment. Assuming a 2 hour play through, this costs $55 per hour of entertainment. Now, this can be broken down further to include how many people got to enjoy it, so a group of 4 would be $13.75 per hour of entertainment per person. Not too bad when you consider it that way, and puts it just slightly more expensive than movie tickets.- This is considered a “Premium Game” by Hunt A Killer, so it’s a single episode meant to be played in one setting, not a series like other Hunt A Killer games.- No replay value to this game, and it would be hard to pass on to another group to enjoy with the way you use some of the items.Overall my group had a lot of fun with this game. It wasn’t too challenging and was about the perfect length for a game night. I’ll give it 4/5 stars (deducted one due to price) and would recommend it to others, but would suggest waiting to see if the price drops any.

Fun
Compared to other HAK games, this one seems a bit expensive, as it's only a single episode, and cannot be re-played. Nothing felt "cheap" - it's just that we have other HAK boxed sets with far more materials for multi-night game play. This was interesting and fun for our group. This game is rated "Easy" and I believe it would be appropriate for attentive teens (who had the patience to decipher Morse code) as well as adults. I would choose to rate it "Moderate" as it's not so easy that our group of adults just sailed on through - there were challenges. Game play time is suggested as 90 minutes, and that's how long it took for us.It is a bit confusing that the packaging says "Mystic Messenger" though the game is Ghastly Manor. One of the documents in our box was torn upon receipt, but the rest of the items were all in good order, were interesting, and were a lot of fun to use. There were a lot of "oohs" and "aahs" when we discovered the black light. :)The coded clues were interesting and required some effort to decipher, but were not so difficult as to stall game play. All of the materials encouraged conversation and interaction with others.Everyone playing was able to contribute to the resolution based on their own particular skills; it was neat to see how each person's brain latched on to something that wasn't apparent to the others, so there was a lot of ongoing communication. We solved a cipher without having discovered a clue that would've led to it, so this game can be played "out of order" but still lead players back into the designed game play. We're all happy to have played it. I feel it would be a better value, compared to other HAK games, if the price was just a bit less.

Just a ouija board
Literally just a rebranded ouija board. The title makes it sound so interesting, but it really is just an ouija board. Ridiculous.
